Beth A. Herbst, age 64 of Monroe, died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at her home. Beth was born August 12, 1953 in Orangeville, IL, the daughter of Robert B. and Marian (Niffenegger) Dinges. She graduated from Orangeville High School in 1971 and married Steven C. Herbst on March 17, 1973 in Shullsburg. Beth worked at Advance Transformer from 1971 until 1979 and Dormans Cheese for 20 years. She attained her nursing degree from Blackhawk Tech and was employed at the Monroe Manor for several years. She most recently was worked as the school nurse at Abe Lincoln Elementary until retiring in 2015. Beth and Steve were members of the Monroe Country Club and enjoyed camping, attending Badger and Packer games, and going on spur of the moment road trips. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and going to Disney World where she had visited over 15 times.

She is survived by her husband Steven Herbst of Monroe; two children, Jennifer Metz of Monticello, and Gerry (Noel) Herbst of Monroe; five grandchildren, Jenelle and Daniel Ward, Taylor, Peyton, and Jordan Herbst; a great granddaughter, Asypen; siblings, Barry (Linda) Dinges of Orangeville, Robert Dinges Jr. of Merrimac, WI, Barb (Dave) Cascio of Buford, S.C., Bonnie Black of Albany, Brett (Collette) Dinges of Monroe, Denise (Wesley) Strack of Stronghurst, IL; and her mother-in-law, Elva Hermanson of Monroe. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Phillip Robert in 1978; step-mother, Mary Ann Dinges; father-in-law, Freddie Herbst; and step father-in-law, Harold Hermanson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 1329 31st. Ave., Monroe. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Monroe Moose Lodge. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in Beth's name.
