Bertha F. Hartwig
Bertha F. Hartwig, age 86, of Monroe, Wisconsin, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at her home. She was born June 17, 1921 at Verona, Wisconsin, the daughter of Emil and Anna (Schneider) Schiess.
Bertha and Harold A. Hartwig were married on February 6, 1944 at St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe. They farmed in Monroe and Cadiz Townships from 1944 to 1980. Bertha was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Monroe and area Homemaker Clubs. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, needle work, cooking, and especially her family.
Surviving are her husband, Harold A. Hartwig of Monroe; son, Eugene A. Hartwig of Monroe, WI; daughter, Diane K. Roberts of Rochester Hills, MI; and special friend, Tina Bunnell of Monroe. She was predeceased by her parents and sisters, Elda Budsberg and Hilda Marti.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at SHRINER-HAGER-GOHLKE FUNERAL HOME, 1455 Mansion Drive and 18th Avenue in Monroe with Rev. Gretchen Sylvester officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund is being established for Monroe Clinic Hospice in Bertha's memory.
