Berniece Mary Erb, age 86 of rural Blanchardville, died on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe. She was born on August 26, 1921 in Mineral Point to Joseph and Mary (Valente) Galle. She grew up, the youngest girl of 11 children in Mineral Point where she attended the St. Mary's Catholic grade school, and graduated from the Mineral Point High School. She worked at Burgess Battery in Mineral Point until she met her future husband, Paul, while he was working in Mineral Point at the Huber Cheese Company. They were married on September 2, 1947 in Dubuque, Iowa. They lived near Blanchardville where they worked side by side making Swiss cheese for 30 years. She was proud of the farm that her husband and son started and operated. She had a great love of her home and her yard. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who could always be found in the kitchen.

Berniece is survived by two children, Mary Ellen (Irvin) Ganzhubner of Blanchardville, and Paul Dennis (Joanne) Erb of Argyle; her beloved dog, Max; two sisters, Josephine Galle and Lena Ceniti, and one brother, Bruno Galle, all of Mineral Point; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Erb, who died on October 22, 1989; and seven brothers and sisters.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. James Stormont and Dr. Richard Adamick and their entire staff.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the Zwingli United Church of Christ in Mount Vernon. Monsignor Thomas Campion of the Apostolate to the Handicapped in Monroe will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday, February 2, 2008 from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. at the Saether Funeral Home in Blanchardville.
