Bernice J. "Smokey" Larson, age 92 of Monroe, died on Sunday, February 27, 2011 at her home. She was born on May 9, 1918 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Gustave and Jennie (Johnson) Carlson. Bernice and Lasse Larson were married in Chicago, IL, he preceded her in death in 1967. She was a retired Insurance executive for the Kemper Insurance Company.
She is survived by her God-Son- James (Stel) Kosek; caregiver, Mary (Dennis) Broge and several friends.
A Celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 4, 2011 at Believers Fellowship, 1802-8th St., with Pastor Jeff Cole officiating, at 6:00 P.M., and a luncheon to follow. Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home is serving the family.
