Berneice Mary Stuckey, 96 of Davis, Ill., died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe, WI. Born December 26, 1912 in Spring Grove Township, Green Co. WI, she was the daughter of Ivan and Mary (Davis) Arnsmeier. She attended grade school at Shanghai and graduated from Brodhead High School. Berneice married Robert Stuckey August 21, 1930 at Milledgeville, IL. She enjoyed working with and for people, especially children. She was a former member and officer of the Stephenson County Home Bureau, former member and officer of the grade and high school P.T.A. at Dakota schools for many years. She was a lifetime member and officer of the Durand Woman's Club and leader of the Davis Rockets 4-H club for 43 years. During this time in 1983 the Robert Stuckey family was chosen 4-H family of the year. She was honored with 43 years of service in the 4-H organization. In March of 1994 during Women's History month she received a certificate of Lifetime Achievement from the Illinois Department of Aging for having served as a role model to women across the state who respected and admired her countless accomplishments. She was a long time member of the Rock Grove Merry Makers Extension Unit, a member of the Willing Workers and Woman's Fellowship at St. Paul Church. Berneice had the honor of being parade marshal for the 4-H and Davis Days parades and was Stephenson County Homemaker Volunteer of the year in 2001. She particularly enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. She attended many games in which they participated and was their #1 fan. My motto, I am only one but I am one. I cannot do everything but I can do something. What I can do I ought to do, and what I ought to do, by the grace of God I Will do.
