Bernard E. "Bernie" Lobeck

ALBANY/OREGON - Bernard E. "Bernie" Lobeck, age 68, of Albany, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, unexpectedly at home. He was born on August 26, 1942, in Madison, the son of Alfred and Adelia (Greiber) Lobeck. He married Kathleen Fiedler on Oct. 2, 1972, in Madison.

He went to Fitchburg Center, a one room country school, and graduated from Oregon High School. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany as Military Police during the Vietnam War. After serving in the military Bernie was a milk hauler for the Maher brothers. He and Kathy began farming in 1972, and purchased their farm in Albany in 1976. The farm was known for raising Dutch Belted Cattle.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy of Albany; sons, Dale (Esther Wrightsel) of Newark, Ohio, and Brian (Tina) Brodhead; daughters, Leslie (Todd) Brugger of Monticello, Karen Lobeck (Le Luchterhand); grandchildren, Alexis and Nicholas Lobeck; sisters, Lila (Don) Larson of Oregon, Ruth Lobeck of Richland Center; brothers, Richard of Viroqua, and William (Sheila) of Viola; brother-in-law, Mike Fiedler of Milton; and mother-in-law, Agnes Fiedler of Stoughton. He is preceded in death by his parents; nephew, David Larson; and sister-in-law, Kate Lobeck.

A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL HOME, 1150 Park Street, Oregon, at 12:00 p.m., on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of service.
