DAKOTA - Bernard B. Boals, 73, of Dakota died peacefully, Saturday July 18, 2009 at his home. Born July 22, 1935 in Stephenson County, he was the son of John Laroy "Roy" and Irene R. (Folgate) Boals. On June 19, 1955, he married Marjorie Klaas at Dakota, IL. Bernard owned and operated Boals Trucking until his retirement in 2000. After retiring he enjoyed spending more time with his family and friends, fishing, doing puzzles, and spending time up north. He graduated from Orangeville High School class of 1953 and was a life long member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Afolkey.
Bernard is survived by his wife, three sons, Brian (Tina) Boals of Dakota, Bennett (Wendy) Boals and Bradley (Sherry) Boals both of Orangeville; two daughters, Brenda (Denny) Gutzmer of Monticello, WI, and Barb (Jim) Sheedy of South Elgin, IL; fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Donald Wubbena of Baileyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Florence Wubbena and step father Clayton Heck.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Afolkey with the Reverend Cheon Eui Oh officiating. Burial will be in the Afolkey Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Dakota. A memorial has been established.
