EXETER - A Belleville woman with three prior convictions of driving while intoxicated was arrested on the same charge and hospitalized with injuries following a one-vehicle crash in Exeter late Saturday, Dec. 24, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.

Rebecca J. Johnson, 24, was also arrested on a charge of jumping bail and cited for driving too fast for conditions, violating driver's license restrictions and driving with a suspended license. She faces a felony charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated since it is her fourth such charge in less than five years.

Reports indicate Johnson was driving eastbound in the W4800 block of County W when she drove onto the shoulder, then overcorrected and veered her vehicle onto the opposite shoulder, where it overturned and came to rest on its wheels. New Glarus Police, Belleville Police and Fire Departments and Belleville EMS responded to the accident at 11:17 p.m.

Johnson was transported by EMS to the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison and has since been discharged. She was wearing her seat belt and the airbag did not inflate. The vehicle was severely damaged and towed from the scene.

Johnson was jailed pending court.
