Barb Weigel, age 70 of Darlington, WI, passed away Sunday, July 12, 2009 at Lafayette Manor in Darlington surrounded by her family, following a lengthy struggle with cancer. She was born February 15, 1939 in Cuba City, WI, the daughter of John and Mina (Lindsay) Mauthe. Barb graduated from Belmont High School in 1957 and later attended Madison Business College. She was united in marriage to Berwyn "Buzz" Weigel on June 17, 1961 at Faith Lutheran Church in Cuba City. Barb was raised in Elk Grove Township moving to Darlington after her marriage. She worked 47 years at the Lafayette County Court House in Darlington, retiring December 31, 2005.

Barb is survived by one daughter: Cheryl (Robert) Anthony of Tomah, WI; two grandchildren: Tyler Berwyn and Amber Jade Anthony; four brothers: John Mauthe of Phoenix, AZ, Robert (Jane) Mauthe of Beloit, WI, Norman Mauthe of Platteville, WI, and Leonard Mauthe of Cuba City, WI; and two sisters: Joanne (Delbert) Heins of Monroe, WI, and Ruth (Charlie) Halverson of Benton, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on January 4, 1990; and one sister: Mary Lee.

Barb was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Darlington and its Women of ELCA. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Barb also enjoyed her flower garden, bowling, pitching horse shoes, reading novels, working crossword puzzles and country western music.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church, 1302 Clay Street in Darlington, WI with Rev. Carol Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Erickson Funeral Home in Darlington.
