Arvin C. Johnson, age 86, of Monroe, WI, formerly of Argyle, WI, passed away Monday, April 9, 2012, at Monroe Clinic Hospital in Monroe. He was born January 10, 1926 in Argyle Township, WI, the son of Joseph and Mona (Hale) Johnson. Arvin graduated from Monroe High School in 1944. He lived in Monroe before being drafted into the United States Marine Corps in 1944, where he worked in the Special Weapons Division until being honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1946. Arvin was united in marriage to Daisy M. Smith on November 26, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. He lived in Argyle until 1951. Arvin then moved to Lake Tomahawk, WI, where he worked in maintenance at Lake Tomahawk T.B. Rehab Center until 1957. In 1957, he moved to Waunakee, WI, where he lived until 1960. Arvin continued to work as a maintenance man at Mendota Hospital in Madison, WI, from 1957 until 1967. In 1967, he was a maintenance supervisor at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe until his retirement in 1988.

Arvin is survived by one sister-in-law: Alma Johnson of Monroe; four nieces and one nephew: Sherri (Shawn Amacher) Johnson and Linda (Bob) Sonnenburg both of Monroe, Bev (Frank) Rielly of Darlington, WI, Charlotte (Gene) Schuetz, and Gary (Deb) Johnson both of Ligonier, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Daisy on October 24, 1995; one step-son and step-daughter-in-law: Ronald (Audery) Krebs; one brother: Bernell Johnson; and one niece: Janet Johnson-Evans.

Arvin was a past member of Argyle United Methodist Church and was involved in its property maintenance. He was also a member of Argyle American Legion Post #251. Arvin looked forward to weekly bowling with his friends, his daily lunches at Leisure Lanes, and nightly dinners at Red Apple in Monroe. Arvin was an avid motorcyclist, riding up until last year.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 13, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Erickson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 801 East Milwaukee Street in Argyle with Rev. Craig Conklin of Lamont United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held Thursday, April 12, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.ericksonfuneralhome.com.
