Arnold L. Schadewaldt, 79, of Dakota died Thursday, August 16, 2012 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. Born April 11, 1933 in Monroe, WI, he was the son of Henry G. and Ilo (Stamm) Schadewaldt. Arnold was a 1951 graduate of Dakota High School and was a lifelong farmer in the Dakota area. On April 2, 1955 he and Shirley Hockman were united in marriage. He was a member of the Dakota-Rock Grove United Methodist Church, sang in the choir for many years and did mission work at Redbird Mission in Kentucky for 13 years. He and Shirley enjoyed square dancing and were members of the Lake Summerset Squares. Arnold also enjoyed spending time fishing, going to Florida in the winter, and traveling to all fifty states. Surviving are his wife Shirley of Dakota, Two sons Alan (Carmen) Schadewaldt of Rock City, Daryl (Tillie) Schadewaldt of Dakota; daughter Lynn (Larry) Lott of Pearl City; six grandchildren Shawn (Jessica) Schadewaldt of Dakota, Stacy Schadewaldt of Lincoln, Stephanie (Nick) Granno of Hampton, VA, Craig Lott of Ft. Riley, KS, Janet Lott of Lanark, Jason Schadewaldt of Dakota; four step grandchildren Shamie (Brandon) Beecher, Cody (Katrina) Young, Shaleena Young, Corey (Chrystal) Young; 5 great grandchildren Dominic, Lawrence, Layla Granno, Shelly Stevens, Riley Schadewaldt; 5 step great grandchildren; three sisters Joan (John) Boyd of Dakota, Judy (Jerome) Lighthart of Sycomore, Cynthia (Dorance) Calhoun of Clinton, IA; sister-in-law Susan Schadewaldt of Baraboo, WI. Preceding him in death were his parents, and a brother Lynden. Visitation will be Monday from 4pm until 7pm at the Dakota-Rock Grove United Methodist Church, Dakota. Funeral services will be Tuesday August 21, 2012 at 10:30 am at Dakota-Rock Grove United Methodist Church with Reverend Tom Bourke officiating. Burial will be at the Dakota Cemetery.
