Arlin E. Erickson, age 84, of Monroe, died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born on May 3, 1930 in Lafayette County, the son of George and Frances (Engebretson) Erickson. He graduated from Darlington High School. Arlin married Shirley McConnell on August 5, 1950 in Darlington. He served in the Korean War from May of 1951 to May of 1953. Arlie spent his entire career in auto sales, and founded and operated Monroe Auto Sales for many years. He was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church, Smith Lodge #31 F. & AM., Green County Shrine, American Legion-Zilmer Riley Post #84, Cecil Jones V.F.W. Post 2312, and Monroe Kiwanis.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Monroe, 5 children: Randall (Penny) Erickson of Monroe, Gail (Mark) Bundner of Verona, Rodney (Ruth) Erickson of Tomah, Lori (Dennis) Holyoke of Monroe, and Eric (Debra) Erickson of Platteville; a sister, LaVona Quinn of Monona; 12 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Winona Haffele and 3 brothers-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the Monroe United Methodist Church, with Reverend Randy Booth officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe with military honors. A visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m. at SHRINER HAGER GOHLKE Funeral Home.
