BELLEVILLE - Alice Ruth Hollis, age 97, of Belleville passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016 at Heartsong Assisted Living in Belleville. She was born on December 24, 1918 in Belleville to her parents Edward and Lydia (Bartlett) Kuhl. On February 20, 1933 she was united in marriage to Ervin C. Hollis at Freeport, IL. Alice cleaned houses for many years and also worked for the Belleville School District in the lunch program for twenty years before retiring. She was a lifelong member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Belleville. Alice enjoyed baking and was known for the wide variety of Christmas cookies she would make each year.

Alice is survived by her children Gerald Hollis, Jimmie (Priscilla) Hollis, Joyce (Pete Vernig) Little, Judy (Ernie) Furrer, and Jolene (Gary) Butenhoff, twenty six grandchildren, many great-grandchildren & great-great grandchildren, and nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ervin, sons Raymond, Wayne, and Norman, daughter Audrey, sister Harriet Harbort, and brother Leland Kuhl.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI with Pastor George Kaminski officiating with burial in the Belleville Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may call from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.

The family would like to thank Belleville EMS and the staff at Heartsong for their loving care for nearly ten years.
