Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — For the week of Aug. 23-31, police performed 73 security checks, 24 citizen assists, eight assists of other agencies, 12 follow-ups to incidents, 26 vehicle registrations and 11 traffic stops; responded to 50 calls for service and reported 10 EMS calls and 13 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls. No fire calls and no detox or mental health transports were reported.

On Aug. 23:

●  People talking loudly were reported at 2:01 a.m. in the 500 block of 1st Center Avenue. Police issued a warning.

●  A verbal altercation was reported at 11:45 a.m. in the 1400 block of East 4th Avenue. Police issued a warning.

●  A possible intoxicated driver was reported at 4:20 p.m. in the 2100 block of 1st Center Avenue. The driver left prior to the officer’s arrival and was not located.

●  A burning violation was reported at 5:52 p.m. in the 1500 block of East 4th Avenue. Police issued a warning.

●  A bat in a house was reported at 10:54 p.m. in the 600 block of East 4th Avenue. The bat was removed.

On Aug. 25:

●  A vehicle in violation of the city’s 48-hour parking ordinance was reported at 8:05 p.m. in the 700 block of 1st Center Avenue. Police issued a warning.

●  A Brodhead man, 25, was cited for disorderly conduct at 9:24 p.m. after causing a verbal disturbance at a bar in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue.

On Aug. 26:

●  A person on a property after business hours was reported at 1:18 a.m. in the 2100 block of 1st Center Avenue. This remained under investigation.

●  Scam phone calls were reported at 10:21 a.m. in the 700 block of East 9th Avenue.

●  Trespassing involving juveniles repeatedly going into a person’s yard was reported at 1:30 p.m. in the 500 block of 14th Street. Police issued a warning.

●  A person with political signs in a park without a permit was reported at 1:54 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. Police issued a warning.

●  An Orangeville man, 42, was cited for speeding at 6:15 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

●  A Grand Rapids, Michigan woman, 57, was cited for non-registration of an auto at 7:27 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

●  An Albany woman, 24, was cited for hit-and-run on an unattended vehicle, failure to file an accident report, imprudent speed, inattentive driving, non-registration of an auto and no vehicle insurance at 10:06 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Center Avenue following a crash.

On Aug. 27:

●  A Janesville man, 22, was cited for driving with a revoked license, non-registration of an auto and no vehicle insurance at 12:21 p.m. in the 1500 block of 1st Center Avenue.

●  A Brodhead man, 56, was cited for speeding at 6:20 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

●  A Beloit man, 17, was cited for speeding at 6:38 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

●  A Newton, Kansas man, 36, was cited for speeding at 7:14 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

On Aug. 28:

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 5:04 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. The driver was contacted and returned to pay for the fuel.

On Aug. 29:

●  A hazard of a fallen tree on a vehicle and in the roadway was reported at 10:44 a.m. in the 300 block of 1st Center Avenue. Police remained on scene until the tree limb was removed by the street department.

●  A Brodhead man, 32, was cited for failure to yield right-of-way at 12:05 p.m. in the 1400 block of West 2nd Avenue.

●  A dog running at large was reported at 3:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of East 4th Avenue. Police issued a warning.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE —  Alex J. Wealti, 26, Belleville, was arrested at 7:19 p.m. Sept. 1 on a felony charge of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime. He was jailed pending court. The arrest stemmed from an investigation by Green County detectives into a report of inappropriate messages sent to a juvenile.

●  Nicholas J. Roth, 40, Albany, was arrested on charges of possessing methamphetamine and morphine with intent to deliver, possessing drug paraphernalia and felony bail jumping after he was found passed out inside a vehicle at Exeter Crossing Road and Boul Road, Town of Exeter, at 6:55 a.m. Sept. 2. He was jailed pending court. Belleville police, Belleville EMS and the Belleville Fire Department assisted deputies.

●  Zachari L. Andrews, 30, Monroe, was arrested on a Wisconsin Department of Corrections probation hold at 8:39 a.m. Sept. 3 at the Green County Probation and Parole Office. He was jailed.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On Aug. 23:

●  A parking problem was reported at 7:49 p.m. on South Van Buren Street in Benton.

●  An abandoned vehicle was reported at 8:32 p.m. on Aetna Road, Town of New Diggings.

On Aug. 24:

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 5:44 a.m. on County G, Town of Argyle.

●  A traffic complaint was reported at 8:48 a.m. on Center Drive Road, Town of Elk Grove.

●  A deputy responded to check welfare at 10:31 a.m. on Mau Road, Town of Wayne.

●  Criminal damage to property was reported at 12:45 p.m. on McClintock Road, Town of Blanchard. A stop sign had been spray-painted, and there was damage to fire number signs and mailboxes. The destruction is tied to an Iowa County case involving similar issues.

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 3:56 p.m. on West Mound View Ave in Belmont.

●  An ATV complaint was reported at 4:15 p.m. on County K, Town of Darlington.

●  A deputy came upon a suspicious trailer at the lumberyard on East Commerce Street in Belmont at 4:57 p.m. The people with the trailer hadn’t realized the business was already closed. No issues.

●  Deputies assisted Darlington police with a welfare check at 6:31 p.m. on Wells Street in Darlington.

●  A scam was reported at 7:25 p.m. on County G, Town of Fayette.

●  A 911 misdial was reported at 8:44 p.m. on County M, Town of Wiota.

●  Edwin G. Ramos-Castaneda, 19, Darlington, was cited for possession of THC, transporting alcohol as a minor and speeding at 9:39 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Elk Grove.

●  Deputies responded for an alarm at 10:04 p.m. on Miner Way in Shullsburg.

●  An unwanted male at a residence who wouldn’t leave was reported at 11:31 p.m. on South Judgement Street in Shullsburg. He left prior to the arrival of deputies.

On Aug. 25:

●  A 911 misdial was reported at 12:14 a.m. on Wis. 78, Town of Wiota, and at 12:55 p.m. on High Street, Town of New Diggings.

●  Deputies assisted Richland Center police with a welfare check at 8:49 p.m. on County O, Town of Kendall. The Darlington Police Department, Iowa County Sheriff’s Office and Mineral Point Police Department assisted.

●  A traffic complaint was reported at 9:21 p.m. on County G, Town of Belmont.

On Aug. 26:

●  Deputies responded for a citizen assist at 12:53 a.m. on County W, Town of New Diggings.

●  Deputies responded to check welfare at 2:23 a.m. on East Truth Street in Shullsburg.

●  A traffic complaint was reported at 6:59 a.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Elk Grove.

●  A disabled vehicle was reported at 7:32 a.m. on U.S. 151, Town of Belmont.

●  Livestock in the roadway was reported at 10:10 a.m. on Faymont Road, Town of Darlington.

●  Dustin L. Luna, 31, Elizabeth, Illinois, was cited for driving without a valid license at 7:42 p.m. on County O, Town of Shullsburg.

●  Sari T. Al-Ammari, 36, Dubuque, Iowa, was cited for speeding at 8:56 p.m. on County W, Town of White Oak Springs.

On Aug. 27:

●  A 911 misdial was reported at 6:36 a.m. on Stone Hill Avenue in Belmont.

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 9:01 a.m. on County I, Town of Cuba City.

●  Harassment was reported at 10:56 a.m. on Cross Street in Blanchardville. A high school student was getting harassing phone calls due to a Snapchat stating “all lives matter.”

●  Deputies responded at 5:14 p.m. to South Mound Avenue in Belmont for a tripped alarm.

●  An animal problem was reported at 11:36 p.m. on St. Peters Road, Town of Shullsburg.

On Aug. 28:

●  A deputy responded at 3:37 a.m. to Wis. 11 in South Wayne for an alarm.

●  A traffic hazard of a tree in the roadway was reported at 7:37 a.m. on West Mound Road, Town of Belmont.

●  Cole J. Crist, 17, Mineral Point, was cited for speeding at 11:56 a.m. on Center Drive Road, Town of Seymour.

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 2:55 p.m. on County E, Town of Darlington.

●  A deputy responded for a vehicle unlock at 6:17 p.m. on West Commerce Street in Belmont.

●  A traffic complaint was reported at 6:46 p.m. on Wis. 126, Town of Elk Grove.

●  A juvenile problem was reported at 7:12 p.m. on East Milwaukee Street in Argyle.

●  A caller at 7:43 p.m. reported someone had tipped two lawnmowers onto their sides in the caller’s yard on School Street in Gratiot.

●  A 911 misdial was reported at 8:14 p.m. on County O, Town of Kendall.

●  A deputy assisted Darlington police with a traffic stop at 10:04 p.m. on Sherman Street in Darlington.

●  Alexis P. McSherry, 17, Barneveld, was cited for speeding at 11:34 p.m. on County F, Town of Fayette.

On Aug. 29:

●  A deputy and Shullsburg police responded at 12:32 a.m. to Aetna Road, Town of New Diggings, for a complaint of someone attempting to get into the caller’s home. No one and no evidence of a break-in were found.

●  A deputy assisted Darlington police with a welfare check at 1:14 a.m. on Spring Street in Darlington.

●  Casey J. Lange, 32, Darlington, was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while intoxicated on a UTV at 1:53 a.m. on Hill Street in Darlington. He was released to a responsible party.

●  A juvenile problem was reported at 4:14 a.m. on County H, Town of Elk Grove.

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 9:43 a.m. on West Mound View Avenue in Belmont.

●  A scam was reported at 1:12 p.m. on West Center Street in South Wayne. The complainant had received text messages stating the sender was hired to kill the complainant but it could be avoided by sending $500. This type of scam has been reported by others in the past, too.

●  An animal bite was reported at 4:11 p.m. on West Center Street in South Wayne.

●  Danielle A. Bauer, 34, Monroe, was cited for speeding and driving with a suspended license at 4:45 p.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Shullsburg.

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 7:05 p.m. on County D, Town of Wayne.

●  Ella L. Schoessow-Holmes, 17, Argyle, was cited for speeding at 7:10 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Darlington.

●  David P. Price, 51, Tinley Park, Illinois, was cited for speeding at 7:35 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Darlington.

●  A deputy responded to provide traffic control at 9:26 p.m. on U.S. 151, Town of Belmont.On Aug. 30:

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 12:35 a.m. on U.S. 151, Town of Belmont, and at 12:06 p.m. on County F, Town of Blanchard.

●  A deputy responded to check welfare at 12:38 a.m. on South Varnum Street in South Wayne.

●  A 911 misdial was reported at 8:22 a.m. on Dunbarton Road, Town of Gratiot.

●  A traffic complaint was reported at 2:42 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Argyle.

●  A deputy responded to check welfare at 3:37 p.m. on Mt. Pleasant Road, Town of Lamont.

●  Trespassing was reported at 4:06 p.m. on Yellowstone Church Road, Town of Blanchard. A neighbor had mowed tall grass on the caller’s property.

●  A deputy responded to keep the peace at 5:54 p.m. on Center Hill Road, Town of Darlington.

●  A traffic complaint was reported at 6:34 p.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Darlington. Darlington police assisted.

On Aug. 31:

●  Deputies responded at 2:12 a.m. to Wis. 23 in Darlington to assist Darlington police with a suspicious activity complaint.

●  A traffic hazard was reported at 10:25 a.m. on Mineral Road, Town of Shullsburg.

●  Fraud was reported at 2 p.m. on South Mound Avenue in Belmont.●  Trespassing was reported at 3:39 p.m. on Yellowstone Church Road, Town of Blanchard. The same complainant as the day before was still unhappy that his neighbor mowed his grass and he is planning to put in a fence.

●  A suspicious vehicle was reported at 4:08 p.m. on County G, Town of Belmont.
