Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — For the week of Oct. 14 to 20, police performed 12 security checks, 26 citizen assists, nine assists of other agencies, 10 vehicle registrations and nine follow-ups to incidents; responded to 27 calls for service, five EMS calls, eight 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls; and made five traffic stops. No mental health or detox transports or fire calls were reported.

On Sunday, Oct. 14:

●  No injuries were reported at 9:13 a.m. from a motor vehicle accident on private property in the 1100 block of West 2nd Avenue. No citations were issued due to the incident occurring on private property.

On Monday, Oct. 15:

●  A Rockford, Illinois man, 27, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct after a fight was reported at 2:55 p.m. in the 300 block of 23rd Street.

●  Police responded for a welfare check at 10:42 p.m. in the 1400 block of 18th Street. Contact was made with the person, and all appeared fine.

●  A Beloit woman, 40, was cited in the 1600 block of 1st Center Avenue for issuing worthless checks, following an investigation into an incident reported Sept. 28.

On Wednesday, Oct. 17:

●  A person reported for disorderly conduct at 6:11 p.m. in the 400 block of 17th Street was warned. The person had been spinning gravel with vehicle tires.

●  A code violation involving loud music was reported at 9:12 p.m. in the 700 block of East 4th Avenue. A warning was issued.

On Thursday, Oct. 18:

●  Disorderly conduct involving people in a verbal altercation was reported at 7:59 a.m. in the 400 block of 2nd Street. Contact was made, and the matter was resolved.

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 12:35 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. It was determined the incident was an oversight, and the matter was resolved.

●  A juvenile was cited for underage possession of tobacco at 1:16 p.m. in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue.

●  Harassment involving unwanted phone calls was reported at 2:49 p.m. in the 1000 block of 13th Street. A warning was issued.

●  A 17-year-old Brodhead resident was cited for inattentive driving following his involvement in a traffic crash reported at 4:08 p.m. in the 1500 block of 1st Center Street.

On Friday, Oct. 19:

●  A Monroe man, 20, was cited for speeding and driving with a suspended license at 3:18 a.m. in the 700 block of 23rd Street.

●  A Brodhead man, 25, was cited for parking on the left side of the highway at 7:57 a.m. in the 1600 block of 20th Street.

●  A business in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue was reported for an alcohol offense at 9:42 a.m. The business advertised selling alcohol but did not have an alcohol license. A warning was issued.


Monroe Police

MONROE — On Thursday, Oct. 18:

●  Kasey C. Genthe, 25, Monroe, was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of suspected drugs (second offense), possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia after officers checked an occupied vehicle parked along the street near closed businesses in the 900 block of 16th Avenue at 2:24 a.m. Officers located a suspected drug “rig” that included syringes, alcohol wipes, cotton swaps, a candle and a rolled-up $20 bill. Genthe was jailed after a blood draw at Monroe Clinic and later released after posting bail.

●  John W. Mitchell, 33, Monroe, was arrested at 10:50 a.m. in the 600 block of 2nd Street on an outstanding warrant issued by the DeKalb County (Alabama) Sheriff’s Office for a charge of smuggling contraband into a correctional facility. Mitchell was jailed pending extradition proceedings in court.

On Friday, Oct. 19:

●  Shane A. Chesebro, 37, Monroe, was cited for first-offense operating while intoxicated and operating with a prohibited blood-alcohol content after officers stopped him for speeding at 8:51 p.m. on 8th Street at 1st Avenue. Chesebro was also cited for unreasonable and imprudent speeding.

On Sunday, Oct. 21:

●  Joseph A. Wallgren, 28, Argyle, was cited for first-offense operating while intoxicated and operating with a prohibited blood-alcohol content after officers stopped him for operating a vehicle without headlights at 2:47 a.m. at 13th Avenue and 16th Street. About 20 minutes later, in the course of the traffic stop, Markus A. Wallgren, 30, Argyle, was arrested on a Lafayette County warrant and on felony charges of possessing THC and drug paraphernalia. He was jailed pending court.

●  Michael S. Cooter, 30, Monroe, was arrested on a domestic abuse-related charge of disorderly conduct after officers responded at 3:31 a.m. to a report of a disturbance in the 1600 block of 6th Street. He was jailed pending court.


New Glarus Police

NEW GLARUS — On Monday, Oct. 15:

●  A found bicycle was reported at 11:15 a.m. in the 700 block of Railroad Street.

●  No injuries were reported at 11:47 a.m. from a motor vehicle crash in a parking lot in the 600 block of Wis. 69.

●  Trent T. Sigafus, 18, New Glarus, was cited for speeding at 2:44 p.m. in the 10 block of 2nd Street.

●  Theresa M. Martinson, 41, New Glarus, was cited for speeding at 3:05 p.m. in the 10 block of 2nd Street.

●  Dillon D. Wiese, 27, Belleville, was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance after police stopped him for a registration violation at 5:16 p.m. on 6th Avenue at Wis. 69.

●  Trevor J. Sweeney, 25, Waupaca, was cited for speeding at 10:48 p.m. in the 1400 block of Wis. 69.

On Tuesday, Oct. 16:

●  Brenda L. Barthel, 43, Monroe, was cited for speeding and operating a motor vehicle without insurance at 8:45 a.m. on Wis. 69 at 11th Avenue.

●  Police responded for a medical call at 1:36 p.m. in the 100 block of 6th Avenue.

●  Police responded for a medical call at 3:43 p.m. in the 900 block of Glarner Drive.

●  Police found a car door left open at 10:46 p.m. in the 100 block of 6th Avenue. The owner of the car was contacted, and it was learned the door was accidentally left open. The door was shut.

On Wednesday, Oct. 17:

●  A missing black short-haired male cat was reported at 12:56 p.m. in the 300 block of 8th Avenue.

●  Police responded for a medical call at 9:14 p.m. in the 800 block of Wis. 69.
