Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — On Oct. 4:

●  A vehicle with a window open was reported at 4:54 p.m. in the 200 block of 1st Street. Police resecured window.

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 9:42 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. Contact made, and the driver returned to pay.

On Oct. 5:

●  A hazard of an animal carcass in the roadway was reported at 8:44 a.m. in the 1600 block of East 9th Avenue. Police were able to remove the carcass.

●  Harassment involving a person repeatedly coming to a residence was reported at 3:10 p.m. in the 1500 block of 1st Center Avenue. The person was warned.

●  Tree branches in the roadway were reported at 7:16 p.m. in the 900 block of West Exchange Street. Police removed the branches.

On Oct. 7:

●  Broken glass bottles in a parking lot were reported at 4:27 a.m. in the 800 block of East Exchange Street. Police removed the broken glass.

●  A burglary was reported at 1:24 p.m. in the 900 block of West Exchange Street.

●  Suspicious activity involving a gas smell was reported at 6:42 p.m. in the 1000 block of 21st Street. The smell turned out to be coming from a roof that just got seal-coated.

●  A dog at large was reported at 8:02 p.m. The dog returned home without incident.

On Oct. 8:

●  A truck not following the truck route was reported at 7:54 a.m. in the 1600 block of 16th Street. Police directed the driver to the truck route.

●  A barking dog was reported at 11:33 a.m. in the 500 block of 9th Street. The owner was warned.

●  A dog at large was reported at 9:28 p.m. in the 2700 block of 1st Center Avenue. Police made contact with the owner, who advised they will call back when the dog is located.

On Oct. 10:

●  A disabled car on the roadway was reported at 8:03 a.m. in the 1100 block of West 5th Avenue. It was removed.

●  Vandalism involving grass clippings in and around a vehicle was reported at 10:21 a.m. in the 1500 block of East 4th Avenue.

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 6:23 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. Contact made, and the driver returned to pay.

●  People throwing glass into the roadway were reported at 8:21 p.m. in the 900 block of 1st Center Avenue. They were not located. The debris was removed.


Darlington Police

DARLINGTON —  A 16-year-old Darlington resident was cited for speeding at 11:09 p.m. Sept. 25 on Wis. 23.

●  Kassie E. Laux, 28, Fairfield, Iowa, was arrested on a charge of operating a UTV while intoxicated at 2:15 a.m. Sept. 26 on West Cornelia Street.

On Sept. 27:

●  Tyler J. Leahy, 24, Cuba City, was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while intoxicated at 12:10 a.m. following contact after suspicious driving behavior on Galena Street.

●  A 17-year-old Belvidere, Illinois resident was cited for speeding at 1:53 a.m. on Wis. 23.

On Sept. 28:

●  Josue Matute-Alvarez, 31, Darlington, was cited for a second-offense charge of driving without a valid license at 6:08 p.m. on Main Street.

●  John Hocking, 48, Darlington, was cited for non-registration of auto and driving with a suspended license at 6:30 p.m. on Fayette Road. 

On Sept. 29:

●  Joaquin Martinez-Castelan, 42, Darlington, was cited for a second-offense charge of driving without a valid license at 11:18 p.m. on Keep Street.

On Oct. 3:

●  Cody Bevins, 30, Darlington, was cited for allowing a dog to run at large at 12:02 p.m. on East Street, his second such offense within a year.

●  Kevin L. Wilson, 54, New Boston, Illinois, was arrested on a charge of operating a UTV while intoxicated at 9 p.m. on West Ann Street after failing to yield to a motor vehicle. He was released to a responsible party.

On Oct. 4:

●  Eduin Martinez-Velasquez, 25, Darlington, was cited for driving after revocation and non-registration of auto at 2:03 a.m. on Wells Street.

●  Dennis M. Schwartz, 41, Darlington, was arrested on a third-offense charge of operating while intoxicated at 2:52 a.m. on East Catherine Street. He was also cited for failure to maintain control of a vehicle after he ran into a median on Main Street.

●  Salvador Ayala-Mendoza, 22, Darlington, was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while intoxicated at 11:59 p.m. on Main Street following a traffic stop for not having headlights or taillights on. Investigation revealed he drove all the way from Platteville without headlights on. He was also cited for second-offense driving without a license and possession of open intoxicants in a vehicle.

● Wesley Breirsprecker, 19, Platteville, was cited for no vehicle insurance at 4:14 p.m. Oct. 7 on Main Street.

DARLINGTON — On Sept. 28:

●  A deputy assisted with a vehicle unlock at 12:05 a.m. on County G, Town of Belmont.

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 3:18 a.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Lamont; at 5:52 a.m. on County I, Town of Elk Grove; at 8:02 a.m. on English Hollow Road, Town of Blanchard; at 9:40 a.m. on Wis. 78, Town of Wiota; and at 9:31 p.m. on Trotter Road, Town of Argyle.
