Monroe Police

MONROE — John P. Cadogen, 40, Monticello, was arrested on a second-offense charge of operating while intoxicated following a traffic stop at 7:25 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the 400 block block of 14th Avenue. He was also charged with possession of THC. He was released to a responsible party pending court.


Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — For the week of Sept. 29 to Oct. 5, police performed 55 security checks, 37 citizen assists, nine assists of other agencies, nine follow-ups to incidents and 21 vehicle registrations; responded to 53 calls for service, 12 EMS calls, one fire call and nine 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls; and made 12 traffic stops. No detox or mental health transports were reported.

On Sunday, Sept. 29: 

●  A dog at large was reported at 7:22 p.m. in the 200 block of 1st Center Avenue. The owner was warned.

●  A domestic problem was reported at 7:57 p.m. in the 400 block of East 9th Avenue. The matter was referred to the Green County District Attorney’s Office.

On Monday, Sept. 30:

●  Vandalism was reported at 6:07 a.m. in the 700 block of West 2nd Avenue. A car was egged. It remained under investigation.

●  A traffic crash was reported at 10:48 a.m. in the 2500 block of 1st Center Avenue. A vehicle stopped in traffic was rear-ended by another vehicle. No citations were issued.

●  A barking dog was reported at 6:21 p.m. in the 1200 block of West 4th Avenue. A warning was issued.

●  A Brodhead man, 37, was arrested on a charge of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct at 9:32 p.m. in the 900 block of West Exchange Street.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1:

●  A vehicle parked left of center facing traffic was reported at 2:19 a.m. in the 1300 block of 19th Street. A warning was issued.

●  Subjects involved in a verbal altercation were reported at 1:58 p.m. in the 1900 block of West 7th Avenue. Police made contact, and the matter was resolved.

On Wednesday, Oct. 2:

●  A vehicle in violation of the city’s Junk Vehicle ordinance was reported at 3:55 p.m. in the east alley of the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue. A warning was issued.

●  A vehicle in violation of the city’s Junk Vehicle ordinance was reported at 4:09 p.m. in the east alley of the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue. The area was checked, and no violations were located.

●  A code violation involving several mattresses and furniture lying behind a business was reported at 4:15 p.m. in the east alley of the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue. A warning was issued.

On Thursday, Oct. 3:

●  An unwanted person at a residence was reported for trespassing at 7:48 a.m. in the 700 block of 17th Street. The matter remained under investigation.

●  Subjects having a disagreement were reported for disorderly conduct at 1:43 p.m. in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue. Police made contact, and the matter was resolved.

●  Fraud was reported at 1:58 p.m. in the 200 block of 17th Street. An undisclosed amount of money was lost. The matter remained under investigation.

●  A dog at large was reported at 3:37 p.m. in the 2200 block of 1st Center Avenue. The owner was warned.

●  A restraining order violation was reported at 4:36 p.m. in the 1900 block of West 7th Avenue. Upon investigation, no violation occurred.

●  A Brodhead woman, 40, was arrested on a domestic abuse-related charge of disorderly conduct at 6:22 p.m. in the 1200 block of West 2nd Avenue.

●  Loud music and fireworks were reported at 9:44 p.m. in the 1600 block of 20th Street. Prior to police arrival, the complainant advised the matter had been resolved.

●  Loud music and yelling were reported at 11:58 p.m. in the 1600 block of 20th Street. Police issued a warning.

On Friday, Oct. 4:

●  A subject causing a verbal disturbance was reported at 1:20 p.m. in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue. Police issued a warning.

●  A Janesville man, 27, was arrested on charges of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at 4:02 p.m. in the 900 block of 1st Center Avenue.

On Saturday, Oct. 5:

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 9:14 a.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. It was determined to be an equipment error.

●  A Brodhead man, 42, was cited for non-registration of an auto at 10:34 a.m. following a traffic crash.

●  A vehicle parked in a handicapped parking spot without the required placard/plate was reported at 12:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue. The vehicle was gone upon police arrival.

●  A Brodhead man, 53, was cited for an off-street parking restriction/no permit at 8:53 p.m. in the N400 block of East 2nd Avenue.

●  Damage to a vehicle was reported at 11:09 p.m. in the east alley of the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue. The matter remained under investigation.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — Rutilio Valdivia Viera, 27, Monroe, was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor bail jumping after deputies stopped him in the W1100 block of Wis. 11, Town of Spring Grove, at 1 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 6. He was also cited for speeding and driving without a valid license (second offense within three years). He was jailed pending court or bond.

On Wednesday, Oct. 9:

●  Terry L. Seffrood, 43, Argyle, was arrested on charges of recklessly endangering safety, criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct and resisting an officer after deputies responded to a report of a disturbance at 2:56 a.m. in the W9400 block of Disrud Road, Town of Adams. The incident occurred on the road and on private property. The charges stem from intentional, repeated collisions of one vehicle into another vehicle. Seffrood was jailed pending court. Lafayette County deputies assisted on scene.
