Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — For the week of Nov. 17-23, police performed 32 security checks, 33 citizen assists, six assists of other agencies, 10 follow-ups to incidents and 11 vehicle registrations; responded to 21 calls for service, 12 EMS calls and 12 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls; and made 16 traffic stops. No fire calls and no mental health or detox transports were reported.

On Sunday, Nov. 17:

●  A code violation of a junk vehicle was reported at 10:17 p.m. in the 500 block of West 2nd Avenue. The owner was contacted to remove it.

On Monday, Nov. 18:

●  A person urinating in public was reported at 7:08 a.m. in the 1400 block of East 4th Avenue. A warning was issued.

●  A parking complaint of a vehicle parked in a driveway not registered to the owner was reported at 8:49 a.m. in the 1200 block of 1st Center Avenue. The resident was advised of their options on they matter.

●  A suspicious, unknown person was reported at 7:53 p.m. in the 1400 block of West 4th Avenue. Police made contact, and the wrong address had been given.

●  A semi parked partially in the road was reported at 9:47 p.m. in the 300 block of 23rd Street. It was removed.

On Tuesday, Nov. 19:

●  A suspicious condition was reported at 7:55 a.m. in the 1100 block of 15th Street. It remained under investigation.

●  A possible underage tobacco sale was reported at 8:29 a.m. in the 2100 block of 1st Center Avenue. The subject was 18 years old.

●  Truancy complaints for subjects between 15-17 years old were reported in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue.

●  A code violation of open burning was reported at 12:19 p.m. in the 1400 block of 16th Street. Police issued a warning for illegal burning.

On Wednesday, Nov. 20:

●  A Monroe man, 69, was cited for speeding at 4:09 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

●  A traffic accident with no injuries and no citations was reported at 4:49 p.m. in the 700 block of 23rd Street.

●  A suspicious, unknown person at a residence was reported at 6:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Cedar Avenue.

On Thursday, Nov. 21:

●  A suspicious condition of a van with a door standing open was reported at 4:22 a.m. in the 800 block of East 6th Avenue. Police made contact, and the owner had forgotten to close it.

●  Theft out of a coin machine was reported at 8:12 a.m. in the 700 block of 21st Street.

●  An Albany woman, 27, was arrested at 2:33 p.m. in the 800 block of East 9th Avenue on charges of operating while intoxicated, failure to stop for a stop sign and operating left of center.

●  Vandalism damage to a vending machine was reported at 3:28 p.m. in the 1600 block of 1st Center Avenue. 

On Friday, Nov. 22:

●  A dog running loose was reported at 10:25 a.m. in the 400 block of 2nd Street. The owner was warned.

●  A 16-year-old Winslow driver was cited for speeding at 11:56 a.m. in the 200 block of 1st Center Avenue.

●  A vandalism complaint of a spray-painted building was reported at 6:09 p.m. in the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue.

●  A Brodhead man, 23, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and no proof of vehicle insurance at 9:33 p.m. in the 1700 block of 1st Center Avenue.

On Saturday, Nov. 23:

●  A Janesville man, 22, was warned for harassment at 5:06 p.m. in the 600 block of 1st Center Avenue.


Darlington Police

DARLINGTON — Loyd B. Beesecker, 48, Darlington, was cited for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at about 2:10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, after a drug investigation at a residence on Main Street.

On Monday, Nov. 25:

●  Diane Smith-Hole, 63, Darlington, was cited for violating city’s property maintenance ordinance at 3 p.m. following a complaint by the Building and Zoning inspector for a property on Division Street.

●  Lawrence Wedig, 70, Darlington , was cited for violating the city’s property maintenance ordinance at 3 p.m. following a complaint by the Building and Zoning inspector for a property on Galena Street.


Monroe Police

MONROE — Officers were investigating an abandoned vehicle in the 100 block of 14th Avenue at 8:18 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, when the driver of the vehicle gave officers a false name. Investigation led to the arrest of Corey J. Gilbert, 23, Stanley, on a probation or parole hold issued by the Wisconsin Department of Community Corrections Division of Probation and Parole. Court records indicate Gilbert has numerous criminal convictions in Chippewa County as well as new charges filed Nov. 26 of second-degree sexual assault and possessing meth.
