Monroe Police

MONROE — An unwanted patron causing a disturbance at a bar in the 1300 block of 17th Street was reported at 1:28 a.m. July 11. Officers located the person, Michael E. Hoffman, 34, Shannon, Illinois, a few blocks away on foot. He was detained and later arrested on charges of disorderly conduct. He began to resist attempts by police to take him into custody and was subsequently charged with resisting/obstructing. At 2:10 a.m., during the course of the arrest, dispatch notified officers on scene that Hoffman had a felony warrant for his arrest out of Illinois. He was jailed on the local charges pending court and on the warrant pending extradition to Illinois.

On July 12:

●  William R. Ellison, 28, Monroe, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct under Wisconsin’s Domestic Violence laws after officers responded at 3:29 a.m. to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence in the 2000 block of 14th Street. He was also charged with felony bail jumping and jailed pending court.

●  David Mendez, 53, Monroe, was arrested at 4:13 p.m. at a residence in the 1600 block of 12th Street on a Department of Corrections probation and parole warrant. He was jailed.


Monticello Police

MONTICELLO — On July 6:

●  A parking complaint of a tractor in an alley was reported at 10:03 a.m. in the 100 block of Staedtler Avenue. The tractor was removed.

●  Social security fraud was reported at 2:30 p.m. in the 200 block of South Main Street.

●  Kodie A. Skogen, 21, Monroe, was cited for no proof of vehicle insurance and failure to wear a seatbelt at 3:17 p.m. on Wis. 69 at West Coates Avenue.

●  Nathan N. Stahm Jr., 32, New Glarus, was cited for no proof of vehicle insurance and failure to wear a seatbelt at 3:32 p.m. on Wis. 69 at West Coates Avenue.

●  Jessie P. Johns, 46, Monroe, was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt at 3:53 p.m. on Wis. 69 at West Coates Avenue.

●  Sean T. McCormick, 27, Monroe, was cited for driving with a suspended license and no proof of vehicle insurance at 4:17 p.m. on Wis. 69 at West Coates Avenue.

●  Police were dispatched at 5:23 p.m. to the 500 block of Eisenhower Court for a person who locked their keys in their vehicle. Police unlocked it.

On July 7:

●  A dog at large was reported at 9:41 a.m. in the 500 block of South Main Street. The owner was notified.

●  Scott A. Buol, 38, Mazomanie, was cited for non-registration of a motor vehicle and failure to wear a seatbelt at 11:29 a.m. on Wis. 69 at West Coates Avenue.

●  Bonnie J. Busch, 38, New Glarus, was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt at 2:44 p.m. on East Coates Avenue at North Main Street.

●  Peter J. Beaton, 35, Monroe, was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt at 3 p.m. on Wis. 69 at West Coates Avenue.

●  Aaliyah C. Kazimer, 21, Monticello, was cited for possession of THC and carrying a concealed weapon at 6:47 p.m. on North Monroe Street at Oak Ridge Drive.

On July 8:

●  Jordan P. Betker, 29, Beloit, was cited for a seatbelt violation at 3:05 p.m. on Wis. 69 at West Coates Avenue.

●  Layla A. Packham, 44, Monticello, was cited for excessive window tinting at 3:25 p.m. on North Main Street at Lake Avenue.

●  James G. Cook, 31, Monroe, was cited for failure to wear a seatbelt at 3:43 p.m. on Wis. 69 at West Coates Avenue.

●  Eric R. Nicklaus, 38, Monroe, was cited driving without a valid license and failure to wear a seatbelt at 3:59 p.m. on Wis. 69 at West Coates Avenue.

●  Brandon M. Elliott, 22, Sun Prairie, was cited for excessive window tinting at 4:46 p.m. on Wis. 69 at West Coates Avenue.

On July 9:

●  Police observed a metal roofing piece hanging over the side of a building at 6:11 p.m. in the 100 block of North Main Street. The area was barricaded off for safety and the building owner contacted.

●  Baby ducks huddled at the entrance of Shawna’s Bar & Grill, 135 N. Main St., were reported at 9:41 a.m. The ducklings were safely removed and returned to their mother.

●  Larry W. King, 34, Brodhead, was cited for driving with a suspended license at 7:14 p.m. on East Lake Avenue at Adams Road.

On July 10:

●  A suspicious person was reported at 1:30 a.m. on North Main Street and West Coates Avenue.

●  Police removed a large metal piece from the southbound lane of Wis. 69 south of County C after the Green County Sheriff’s Office requested mutual aid with the road hazard at 9:46 a.m. The Monticello Street Department disposed of the item.

●  Attempted social security fraud was reported at 2:14 p.m. in the 100 block of West North Avenue.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — On July 11:

●  Randall E. Halvorson, 66, Browntown, was arrested on domestic abuse-related charges of false imprisonment and disorderly conduct after deputies responded at 12:03 a.m. to a residence in the 100 block of East Old Highway Road, Town of Cadiz, for a reported disturbance. He was also arrested on a charge of obstructing an officer. He was jailed pending court.

●  Jarard J. Wargowsky, 36, Janesville, was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while under the influence of alcohol after deputies responded at 8:14 p.m. to a report of a vehicle in the ditch at County E and Condon Road, Town of Decatur. He was also cited for driving with a revoked license and failure to maintain control of his vehicle. He was jailed pending release to a responsible party. Brodhead police assisted deputies with the investigation.
