Monroe Police

MONROE — Wallace H. Griffin, 61, Madison, was arrested on a charge of operating while under the influence of intoxicants at 8:10 p.m. Feb. 9 on Wis. 11 and Wis. 69 after a report of a two-vehicle crash. He was also cited for failure to yield the right of way from a stop sign. He was released pending court. 

●  Thomas J. Flannery, 40, Monroe, was arrested on a third-offense charge of operating while intoxicated and possession of THC at 8:48 p.m. Feb. 12 in the 1400 block of 6th Street as a result of his vehicle getting stuck in a snowbank. He was also cited for inattentive driving. He was jailed.  

●  Craig L. Bevins, 48, Argyle, was cited for operating motor vehicle after revocation, OWI related, and for failure to install an ignition interlock device at 6:42 p.m. Feb. 14 in the 400 block of 18th Avenue. He was subsequently charged with bail jumping for violating court-ordered bail conditions from a prior case prohibiting operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. 


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — Teresa G. Price, 44, Monticello, was cited for driving without a valid license, her second offense within three years, at 1:37 a.m. Feb. 8 in the N7100 block of Wis. 69, Town of Washington following a traffic stop for an equipment violation


Monticello Police

MONTICELLO — On Feb. 6: 

●  Illegal dumping was reported at 11:37 a.m. in the 500 block of Sunset Avenue. 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 8:42 p.m. in the 100 block of North Main Street. This remains under investigation. 

On Feb. 7: 

●  A dog left out in the cold was reported at 5:45 a.m. in the 400 block of North Monroe Street. Officers unable to locate a dog outside. 

●  A parking complaint was reported at 5:49 a.m. in the 200 block of North Main Street. A parking citation was issued for no parking between the hours of 2:30 and 6 a.m. 

●  Police responded for a commercial alarm at 6:12 a.m. in the 1300 block of Wis. 69, New Glarus. 

●  Police assisted Monroe EMS and Monticello Fire First Response with a medical emergency at 1:27 p.m. Feb. 8 in the 400 block of Washington Street. 

On Feb. 9: 

●  Illegal dumping was reported at 12:12 p.m. in the 500 block of Sunset Avenue. 

●  Attempted fraud involving a citizen being contacted and informed they won two million dollars was reported at 12:22 p.m. in the 700 block of Washington Street. The citizen did not give out any personal information and hung up on caller. 

●  A hit-and-run to an unattended parked car was reported at 4:39 p.m. Feb. 11 in the 100 block of East Coates Avenue. This remains under investigation. 

On Feb. 12:

●  Police issued two parking citations at 4 a.m. for violation of the winter parking ordinance. 

●  Attempted fraud involving a phone scam requesting money was reported at 10:30 a.m. in the 500 block of Summit Avenue. No personal information was given out and hung up on caller. 

●  A parking complaint was reported at 10:54 a.m. in the 500 block of North Main Street. A parking citation for violation of the winter parking ordinance was issued. 

●  A 911 misdial was reported at 1:38 p.m. in the 400 block of North Pratt Road. 

●  A one-vehicle crash with no injuries was reported at 3:44 p.m. in the 400 block of North Pratt Road. The vehicle was towed. This remains under investigation.


Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — For the week of Feb. 7 to Feb. 13, police performed 20 security checks, 19 citizen assists, 10 assists of other agencies, 14 follow-ups to incidents, 12 vehicle registration and six traffic stops; responded to 24 calls for service and reported 13 EMS calls, six 911 or BEEMS (Brodhead Elderly Emergency Monitoring System) calls and no fire calls. No detox and one mental health transport were reported. 

●  A broken-down vehicle blocking traffic was reported at 5:41 a.m. Feb. 7 in the 100 block of East 9th Avenue. Police assisted with moving vehicle and giving driver ride home. 

●  A juvenile was cited for truancy at 1:26 p.m. Feb. 8 in the 2500 block of West 5th Avenue. 

●  A juvenile was cited for a tobacco violation at 8:56 a.m. Feb. 10 in the 2100 block of West 9th Avenue. 

On Feb. 11: 

●  A traffic crash was reported at 1:07 p.m. in the 1600 block of 1st Center Avenue. This remains under investigation. 

●  A gas drive-off was reported at 1:54 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. The reported vehicle was not the violator. This remains under investigation. 

●  Harassment was reported at 2:37 p.m. in the 300 block of 23rd Street. This remains under investigation. 

On Feb. 12: 

●  A parking citation was issued at 3:05 a.m. in the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue for a vehicle in violation of the city’s winter parking ordinance. 

●  Fraud was reported at 3:58 p.m. to the department lobby. Subject advised not to give out any personal information. 

On Feb. 13: 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 12:50 a.m. in the 2400 block of 1st Center Avenue. Police found nothing suspicious. 

●  Suspicious activity involving an unoccupied vehicle in driveway was reported at 6:42 a.m. in the 800 block of East 2nd Avenue. Police unable to contact owner. Vehicle was towed. 

●  A parking citation was issued at 8:16 p.m. in the 600 block of 10th Street and at 9:07 p.m. in the 1200 block of 11th Street for a vehicle in violation of the city’s winter parking ordinance. 

●  Verbal disorderly conduct was reported at 11:33 p.m. at a commercial building in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. Neither party pressed charges.


Darlington Police 

DARLINGTON — Luis Ortiz-Campos, 27, Darlington, was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while intoxicated at 3:20 a.m. Feb. 6 on Ravine Street after crashing his vehicle into a snowbank. He was also cited for driving without a valid license, failure to maintain control of vehicle and no vehicle insurance. 

On Feb. 11: 

●  Didiar Trejo-Ortez, 35, Darlington, was cited for driving without a valid license at 9:27 p.m. on Ervin Johnson Drive. 

●  Rufino Arguelles-Flores, 22, Darlington, was arrested on a first-offense charge of operating while intoxicated at 10:20 p.m. on Main Street as a result of his vehicle getting stuck in the roadway. He was also arrested for driving without a valid license, his second offense. He was cited for possession of open intoxicants in vehicle.


Lafayette County Sheriff

On Feb. 6: 

● A deputy assisted Grant County Sheriff’s Office at 12:46 a.m. on U.S. 151, Town of Belmont. Belmont police assisted. 

● A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 1:52 a.m. on County G, Town of Belmont. 

● A deputy responded to keep the peace at 10:22 a.m. on Galena Street in Benton. 

● A disabled vehicle was reported at 11:51 a.m. on Wis. 78, Town of Gratiot. 

● An animal problem was reported at 3:59 p.m. on County KK, Town of Gratiot. 

● A deputy responded for a vehicle unlock at 4:36 p.m. on Sherman Street in Darlington. 

● Theft was reported at 4:43 p.m. on Center Drive Road, Town of Belmont. 

● A deputy responded to check welfare at 6:03 p.m. on Wis. 126, Town of Elk Grove. 

● A deputy responded for a citizen assist at 6:40 p.m. on North Lafayette Street in Argyle. 

● A traffic complaint was reported at 10:16 p.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Willow Springs. Darlington police assisted. 

On Feb. 7: 

●  A deputy located a disabled vehicle at 1:53 a.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Willow Springs. 

●  Johana Lopez, 20, Hammond, Indiana, was cited for driving without headlights and without a commercial license at 4:02 a.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Shullsburg. 

●  A deputy assisted the Arena police at 7:47 a.m. on Wicks Road, Town of Gratiot. 

●  A deputy assisted Iowa County Sheriff’s Office at 3:49 p.m. on U.S. 151 in Iowa County. 

●  Livestock on the roadway was reported at 9:28 p.m. on Short Cut Road, Town of Darlington.

 On Feb. 8: 

●  A parking problem was reported at 12:13 a.m. on West Prospect Street in South Wayne. 

●  A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 6:13 a.m. on Roaster Road, Town of Benton. 

●  A disabled vehicle was reported at 8:31 a.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Seymour. 

●  A deputy responded to check welfare at 2:43 p.m. on West Blackstone Street in Shullsburg. 

●  An animal problem was reported at 5:36 p.m. on County F, Town of Darlington. 

●  A deputy responded for traffic control at 6:22 p.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Elk Grove. 

On Feb. 9: 

●  A deputy responded to check welfare at 8:05 a.m. on Edison Road, Town of Benton. 

●  An animal problem was reported at 8:57 a.m. on County F, Town of Darlington. 

●  A disabled vehicle was reported at 9:25 a.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Darlington and at 4:58 p.m. on County D, Town of Wiota. 

●  A deputy responded for a vehicle unlock at 3:28 p.m. on Bridge Street, Town of Gratiot and at 4:49 p.m. on South Main Street in Blanchardville. 

●  Deputies assisted Darlington police with a domestic dispute at 5:21 p.m. on Main Street in Darlington.

On Feb. 11: 

●  A deputy assisted the Monroe Police Department at 7:45 a.m. on Sand Road, Town of Argyle. 

●  Deputies responded to check welfare at 1:58 p.m. on Sound Mound Avenue in Belmont. Belmont police assisted. 

●  A civil dispute was reported at 4:52 p.m. on Galena Street in Argyle. 

●  A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 8:07 p.m. on Wis. 23, Town of Darlington. 

On Feb. 12: 

●  A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 6:27 a.m. on County O, Town of White Oak Springs and at 7:52 p.m. on St Rose Road, Town of Benton. 

●  A deputy responded for traffic control at 9:18 a.m. on U.S. 151, Town of Belmont. 

●  Deputies responded to check welfare at 1:04 p.m. on Wis. 126, Town of Elk Grove. 

On Feb. 13: 

●  Deputies responded to check welfare at 12:15 a.m. on Main Street in Gratiot. Gratiot First and Green County EMS of Darlington assisted.

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 3 a.m. on West Mound Road, Town of Belmont. 

●  A vehicle in the ditch was reported at 6:18 a.m. on Wis. 81, Town of Darlington and at 6:59 a.m. on Tollakson Road, Town of Wayne. 

●  A deputy responded for a vehicle unlock at 11:03 a.m. on North State Street in Argyle. 

●  A disabled vehicle was reported at 6:01 p.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Gratiot. 

●  An injured deer was reported at 6:28 p.m. on Wis. 78, Town of Blanchard and at 10:20 p.m. on Bennett Road, Town of New Diggings. 

On Feb. 14: 

●  A deputy responded for a citizen assist at 12:13 a.m. on West Water Street in Shullsburg. 

●  Porfirio Zavelta-Hernandez, 44, Shullsburg, was arrested for driving without a valid license at 3:29 a.m. on Wis. 11, Town of Gratiot. He was booked and released. 

●  An animal problem was reported at 8:19 a.m. on County F, Town of Fayette. 

●  Deputies responded to check welfare at 10:10 a.m. on Furnace Hill Road, Town of Darlington. 

●  A deputy responded to keep the peace at 11:35 a.m. on Spore Road, Town of Argyle. 

●  Suspicious activity was reported at 3:32 p.m. on County B, Town of Wayne.
