PECATONICA, Ill. — Illinois State Police District 16 Commander, Captain Joseph Blanchette, announced District 16 enforcement figures and activity for the month of May. 

Illinois State Police District 16 Troopers issued 601 total citations and 680 written warnings during the month of May. Speed violations accounted for 233 citations. Ninety-three citations were issued for occupant restraint violations and 66 enforcement documents were issued for distracted driving violations. 

Troopers investigated 33 traffic crashes and assisted 81 motorists. One hundred thirty-six commercial motor vehicle inspections were completed with 14 drivers and/or vehicles being placed out of service. 

Troopers made 11 arrests for driving under the influence and 19 criminal arrests. Eight enforcement documents were issued for Scott’s Law violations. 

District 16, which encompasses Jo Daviess, Stephenson, Winnebago, and Boone Counties, had two traffic fatalities in May.
