Monroe Fire 

MONROE — A mattress on fire was reported in the 1500 block of Wis. 69, south of Monroe, at about 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11. A driver was hauling furniture in a truck and discarded a lit cigarette out the window. The cigarette flew into the truck bed and caused the mattress to catch fire. The driver noticed the fire after a couple of minutes. The mattress was removed, left along the side of the road and the fire extinguished, with no further damage reported.
