Monticello Fire
MONTICELLO — A transformer that blew up and was on fire was reported at about 1 p.m. Thursday, March 19. Firefighters were paged to South Madison Street but located the transformer on East Park Street. The explosion was caused by moisture that got into the transformer during a recent rainstorm. Alliant Energy responded to fix it. No injuries and no damage beyond the transformer were reported. About 50 residences lost power for an hour or two as a result of the fire.
Green County Sheriff
MONROE — Green County EMS was paged to the Green County Jail for a male inmate with a medical issue at about 5:30 p.m. Saturday, March 21. He was transported to Monroe Clinic for evaluation, then returned without incident to the jail.

● Green County EMS of Darlington responded at 8:50 a.m. to Washington Street in Darlington. An officer assisted on scene.
● Green County EMS of Darlington responded at 10:18 a.m. to East Catherine Street in Darlington.
● Belmont EMS responded at 11:31 a.m. to Sand Hill Road, Town of Belmont.
● Green County EMS of Darlington responded at 3 p.m. to Fayette Road, Town of Darlington.
● The Darlington Fire Department responded at 9:25 p.m. to Ohio Street in Darlington for a carbon monoxide alarm. Darlington police assisted on scene.
On Tuesday, March 17:
● A grass fire was reported at 4:14 p.m. on County M, Town of Wiota. The Wiota Fire Department responded. The Argyle Fire Department and Browntown Fire Department assisted.
