Monroe Fire
MONROE — A cornfield on fire was reported off Bethel Road just west of 4th Avenue West at about 5:15 p.m. Sunday, April 5. The fire likely started from farm equipment that had a mechanical failure while a farmer was working in the field. A couple of acres burned. No injuries were reported.
Juda Fire Department
JUDA — A tractor fire was reported on County S at County SS at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday, April 2. The owner was baling cornstalk when the tractor caught on fire due to a mechanical issue. It was a total loss. No injuries were reported. Firefighters were on scene about 30 minutes.
Green County Sheriff
MONROE — Deputies, the Argyle Fire Department, Argyle EMS and Green County EMS were dispatched to the N4900 block of Skinner Hollow Road, Town of Adams, at 8:56 p.m. Thursday, April 2, for a report of a man found in a wooded area on private property who was not breathing and did not have a pulse. He was found by friends who went out to check on him. First responders located the 78-year-old Monroe man. An investigation determined he died of natural causes while out working in the woods and there was no evidence of suspicious activity or foul play.
Monticello Fire
MONTICELLO — Firefighters were paged to County C at Marshall Bluff Road for a grass fire at about 3:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 1. The landowner was doing a controlled burn that spread to the other side of the road due to wind. The fire burned about four acres before it was brought under control. Firefighters were on scene about 40 minutes. No one was hurt.
