Green County

Felonies

●  Shelby S. Jarrett, 61, Antioch, Illinois, was charged Aug. 15 with two Class I felony counts of failure to pay child support. Court records indicate he failed to pay support for three children in 2013 and 2014 and his total arrearage owed as of Feb. 2018 was $19,109.57.

●  Alexander J. Bartelt, 23, Monroe, was charged Aug. 16 with one Class G felony count each of delivering LSD and delivering psilocin (psychedelic mushrooms), a Class H felony count of possession of THC with intent to deliver, a Class I felony count of maintaining a drug trafficking place and a misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia. Court records indicate Bartelt sold a confidential source 10 hits of LSD for $80 and about a quarter ounce of psilocybin mushroom for $25 and a subsequent search warrant on his home in the 1000 block of 12th Avenue on July 18 turned up about seven ounces of marijuana, a digital scale, a grinder, cannabis vape cartridges and $350 in cash. Bartelt told police he had been selling cannabis for three to four months and his supplier was pushing him to sell more. When an investigator asked Bartelt why he was selling illegal drugs, Bartelt said he just needed the extra money to help pay bills and rent. Bartelt said he got LSD from the same supplier but does not himself consume it because “his trips are never pleasant,” the investigator wrote.

●  Austin Daniel Colliers, 22, Monroe, was charged Aug. 19 with possessing THC and possessing THC with intent to deliver, both Class I felonies, and a misdemeanor charge of possessing drug paraphernalia, all as repeat offenses and as a party to a crime. The case stems from a traffic stop May 1 in the W5600 block of Melvin Road, Town of Clarno. A drug agent was conducting surveillance of a nearby residence as part of an ongoing investigation into the dealing of “a large amount of marijuana” and observed Colliers drive away from the residence. A deputy followed the vehicle and stopped it. The deputy reported finding containers of marijuana oil and a backpack containing “numerous bags of marijuana” in the vehicle. A passenger, 22-year-old Ryan T. L. Field of Monroe, said all the drugs were his, but text messages reportedly prove Colliers was involved in the delivery of the marijuana. Field has since been sentenced to prison on related convictions.

●  Angela Marie Johnson, 44, Monroe, pleaded guilty Aug. 20 to misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct, downgraded from two felony counts of substantial battery, and was sentenced to 18 months on probation. She owes $7,280.33 in court assessments. The case stems from a physical assault April 18 at her home in the 2700 block of Wis. 69. Court records indicate she came home from work early and saw her boyfriend come out from the spare bedroom wrapped in a towel and with “a concerned look on his face.” Spotting a women’s purse on a table, she went into the bedroom and physically assaulted the woman she found hiding there. The woman suffered a serious eye injury that required stitches. Johnson was also later evaluated at Monroe Clinic for a minor hand injury. When questioned by police, Johnson said she was sorry for what she did and should’ve let the woman “explain herself on what was going on.” An officer noticed Johnson had alcohol on her breath and Johnson explained that she had one small glass of vodka to calm herself down after assaulting the woman.

●  Kristie Jo Sweeney, 30, Brodhead, pleaded guilty Aug. 20 to two misdemeanor counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and was sentenced to one year on probation. She also entered a one-year deferred prosecution agreement on three felony counts of possessing methamphetamine precursors, two felony counts of manufacture or delivery of amphetamine and felony charges of maintaining a drug trafficking place and knowingly possessing meth waste as a party to a crime. The case stems from search warrants executed on a property in the W300 block of Town Center Road, Town of Spring Grove, and a lengthy investigation in 2017 and 2018 by the Stateline Area Narcotics Team. Police found evidence of “one-pot method” meth production, with some ingredients purchased by Sweeney at area pharmacies, according to court records. Sweeney’s co-defendant, 24-year-old Jordan E. Douglas of Brodhead, is currently serving a sentence of one year in jail and five years on probation.

●  Andrew S. Bristol, 30, address unknown, entered a two-year deferred prosecution agreement Aug. 20 on a Class I felony charge of failure to pay child support. Conditions of the agreement include attending quarterly review hearings and paying $100 biweekly, or his current child support order, whichever is higher by income assignment, to the Wisconsin Support Collections Trust Fund. His total arrearage owed as of March 2018 was $5,888.54.

●  Steven Scott Quam, 27, Brodhead, was charged Aug. 23 with one Class G felony count of intimidating a victim, three misdemeanor counts of battery and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, stemming from a report of domestic abuse Aug. 22 at his home on 7th Street, during which a woman alleged he repeatedly pushed her down and shoved her.

●  Matthew David Gilbertson, 36, Monroe, was charged Aug. 27 with a Class F felony count of burglary, a Class G felony count of theft of moveable property with a value of $10,000 to $100,000 and a Class H felony count of taking and driving a vehicle without consent, all as repeat offenses. Court records indicate he stole a 1970 John Deere 4320 tractor out of a shed at a farm on Haddinger Road, Town of Clarno, in June. The owner identified Gilbertson as a former employee at the farm and estimated the value of the tractor at about $25,000, adding that he’d spent about $29,000 to repair it two years ago. The tractor was later recovered at a property on Sanders Hill Road near Winslow.

●  Alan Charles Soper, 56, Madison, was charged Aug. 27 with two counts of felony bail jumping. Court records indicate he had contact with a woman Aug. 23 in violation of his bond conditions in a previous case.

●  Aaron L. Frayer, 52, Beloit, was charged Aug. 30 with one count of felony bail jumping. Court records indicate he failed to appear the previous day for a sentencing hearing on charges of failure to pay child support, in violation of his bond conditions in the case.
