Green County Felonies
● Juwaun Antwaun Carter, 18, address unknown, was sentenced Sept. 16 to three years on probation after pleading guilty to felony charges of burglary and driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent, stemming from a July 22, 2019 burglary on Red Cedar Lane in Brodhead. A window was broken and an ATV stolen in the burglary, which happened during a pursuit by police, according to court records. The pursuit of Carter began earlier that night with a report from a Stop-N-Go employee of drug activity and suspicious vehicles parked at the convenience store on 1st Center Avenue in Brodhead. Police determined one of the vehicles was stolen out of Beloit.
● Victor Alexander McDonald, 24, Brodhead, was sentenced Sept. 28 to three years in prison and three years on extended supervision after pleading guilty to a felony charge of exposing genitals to a child and having his probation revoked on prior felony convictions. Court records indicate he solicited photos from a 16-year-old Brodhead girl in August 2019 via social media accounts and also sent her photos. One of the photos was flagged by Facebook and reported to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force as possible child pornography.
● Robert Larry Johnson, 51, New Glarus, was charged Oct. 1 with one felony count of battery or threat to a law enforcement officer and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, harassment and driving with a revoked license, stemming from a Sept. 29 dispute with neighbors on 2nd Street in New Glarus. Court records indicate he used racial slurs, swore, armed himself with a metal pipe and grabbed one neighbor by the shirt in the presence of a child. A neighbor told police “there is no room for a child to hear what Johnson says when he is angry and in one of his moods,” calling the behavior “an ongoing issue.” After he was arrested, Johnson called the officers names, used offensive language and told them, “Man, I wish I could get you in a cell ... You guys are dead, dead, dead.” Several hours later, he blew a .232% blood alcohol concentration in a preliminary breath test.
● Jeremy J. Reynolds, 45, Wisconsin Dells, had his probation revoked Oct. 1 on felony convictions of failure to pay child support. He was sentenced to one year in jail and a consecutive three years on probation.
● Vincent M. Ott, 31, incarcerated, was sentenced Oct. 6 to an imposed and stayed four years in prison and three years on extended supervision after pleading no contest to felony charges of battery by prisoners and bail jumping. The criminal complaint in the battery case indicates Ott and a fellow inmate in the Green County Jail were playing cards Dec. 27 when they got into an argument. Video surveillance showed Ott cornering him in his cell and punching him in the head. Ott then went to take a shower and told the victim he also needed to “wash off the evidence.” Court records further indicate Ott broke his conditions of bond June 19 by failing to report to jail. The Green County District Attorney said at sentencing that Ott was “a unanimous vote for acceptance into the Green County drug court program” and drug treatment was the “carrot,” but if Ott didn’t comply, “he’s going to prison for four years in, three years out.” Ott told the court he has a good-paying job at a Monroe company and was ready to “be a responsible adult” and “just hoping to be able to stick with it and do this program.”
● Joshua James Hudson, 26, Rockford, Illinois, was charged Oct. 14 with two felony counts of failing to pay child support in 2017. A warrant is issued for his arrest.
● John Lyle Carothers Muszynski, 29, incarcerated, was sentenced Oct. 15 to one year in jail and two more years on probation after having his previous probation revoked on felony convictions of THC possession and bail jumping and misdemeanor convictions of operating with a prohibited blood-alcohol content and domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct. He also pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of bail jumping and driving with a revoked license. The cases stem from a series of arrests dating as far back to 2015, including domestic altercations with a woman at his former home on Wis. 69, Town of Washington, during which court records indicate he became upset after she refused him sex, and he yelled at her, called her names and pushed her while she was holding an infant.
● Leighanne A. Robinson, 36, South Beloit, Illinois, was sentenced to 120 days in jail and three years on probation after pleading guilty Oct. 19 to a felony charge of operating with a restricted controlled substance with a passenger younger than 16, stemming from a June 24, 2018 traffic stop in Brodhead. Police reported smelling marijuana inside her car while speaking with Robinson and that she admitted she had smoked marijuana while tubing on the Sugar River earlier in the day. Her 9-year-old was in the backseat. Her license is revoked four years and she is ordered to undergo alcohol or other drug abuse (AODA) counseling. Her court assessments total $2,577.
● Alton L. Bellows, 39, Monroe, was sentenced Oct. 23 to three years on probation after pleading no contest to felony strangulation and suffocation, with related charges dismissed but “read in.” Conditions of his probation include counseling for anger management, mental health and alcohol or other drug abuse (AODA). His court assessments total $618. The case stems from a domestic abuse incident May 22 at a residence in the 1500 block of 16th Street in Monroe.
