Felonies
● Cory Harland Swenson, 20, Blanchardville, pleaded guilty May 12 to a Class I felony charge of fleeing or eluding an officer. He entered a one-year deferred prosecution agreement. The conviction will be dismissed if he complies with the conditions of the agreement. His co-defendant, Jacob Robert Ruf, 20, Darlington, pleaded guilty April 27 to a misdemeanor charge of resisting or obstructing an officer and was fined $579. The cases stem from an incident at about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 2. A Lafayette County deputy had a vehicle stopped on Wis. 78 near Argyle when the driver of a second vehicle came up from behind, abruptly swerved around the stopped vehicle, went down into the ditch and then drove back onto the road and continued driving, according to police reports. The deputy left the traffic stop and began pursuing the second vehicle, but instead of stopping, the driver continued northeast into Green County, eventually getting stuck in a ditch off Gould Hill Road. The driver, identified as Swenson, and his passenger, Ruf, then got out and fled on foot but were arrested a short distance away.
