Felonies

●  Kyle McNett, 32, Warren, Illinois, pleaded no contest Nov. 8 to felony charges in multiple cases, including fourth- and fifth-offense operating while intoxicated and intimidation of a victim with use of force. He also pleaded no contest to domestic abuse-related misdemeanor battery, with other charges dismissed as part of a plea agreement. He was sentenced to a cumulative two years, three months in jail and three years on probation, with conditions that he maintain absolute sobriety and complete alcohol and other drug abuse (AODA) treatment. He owes the court over $4,400 in fines and fees. The OWI convictions stem from traffic stops in Monroe in 2017: on March 11, police observed McNett weave in the road and hit a curb and found he had a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.214 percent; on June 25, he was found to have a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.084 percent. On Oct. 5, 2017, court records indicate McNett kicked a woman, “stomped” her in the chest, “pounded” on her head, bit her back and strangled her until she almost blacked out during a domestic altercation at his former residence in the 2700 block of 8 1/2 Street in Monroe. The downstairs neighbors told police it sounded like someone was being “body-slammed” upstairs. Children were present in the apartment at the time. The woman had to be taken to the emergency room for treatment of her injuries.
