Felonies
● Marcus Jordan Phiffer, 23, Monroe, was charged Feb. 5 with two counts of felony bail jumping and one Class A misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property. Court records indicate he scratched another person’s Harley Davidson motorcycle on Aug. 21 in the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue in Brodhead. He has a pre-trial conference March 19.
● Jeremy W. Thorson, 40, Ottawa, Illinois, was charged Feb. 6 with three Class I felony counts of failure to pay child support. Court records indicate his payments as of April 2017 were $136 per week and that he failed to pay for at least 12 months. His total child support arrearage owed as of October 2018 was $21,290.14. A warrant is issued for his arrest.
● Thomas Robert Schmid, 29, Monroe, was charged Feb. 8 with a Class H felony count of battery by prisoners, two counts of felony bail jumping and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, stemming from an incident Feb. 3 in the C-block dayroom of the Green County Jail. According to an investigation by jail deputies, Schmid and another inmate were arguing about a play in the Super Bowl when the other inmate called Schmid a racist slur and Schmid smacked him in response, leaving a red mark on his face. Schmid told jail deputies he just put his hand near the other inmate’s face. In a statement, he wrote, “I don’t understand how I can get in trouble for me not touching him and him calling me a (racist slur).”
● Jericho Zjoran Blades, 17, Monticello, was charged Feb. 18 with a Class I felony count of delivering marijuana and a misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia. Court records indicate Blades sold two joints for $10 to a 12-year-old in the Monticello High School bathroom on Feb. 14, and a search warrant on Blades’ home on East Park Avenue yielded a bong. A preliminary hearing is scheduled March 1.
Misdemeanors
● Markus Aaron Wallgren, 30, Argyle, pleaded no contest Feb. 14 to an unclassified misdemeanor charge of possessing drug paraphernalia and was fined. He owes the court $250. A misdemeanor charge of possessing THC was dismissed as part of a plea deal. The case stems from his arrest at an Oct. 21 traffic stop in Monroe.
Lafayette County
Felonies
● Patrick Owen Kleckner Jr., 26, Savanna, Illinois, was charged Jan. 25 with a Class H felony count of receiving stolen property with a value greater than $5,000 to $10,000. Court records indicate Kleckner was in possession of a silver 2003 Ford F150 reported stolen from a federal prison guard in Clinton, Iowa, on Jan. 23. Items with a total value of $5,000 were in the truck when it was stolen, including a loaded Glock 43 9mm handgun and body armor. These items were not found when the truck was recovered at a residence on Ohnstad Road, Town of Darlington. Kleckner denied having the truck and told deputies it was at the residence when he arrived. He is currently out on a $3,000 cash bond.
