Green County

Felonies

•  Darrin William Demrow, 39, Brodhead, had his deferred prosecution agreement revoked June 29 on a Class I felony possession of narcotics charge and a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was sentenced to four years on probation. The case stems from an EMS dispatch June 3 to Demrow’s address in the 500 block of Mary Lane, Town of Decatur. Demrow had apparently overdosed on heroin and was revived with two doses of Narcan. Police found syringes, needles, steel wool, Suboxone and other evidence of narcotics use in the home.

•  Jamie Lea Churchill, 39, Monroe, pleaded guilty on July 11 to a Class I Felony count of theft as party to a crime and was sentenced to 30 months on probation. A felony charge of burglary was dismissed. She owes the court $2,768. The case stems from an incident in October 2015 when Churchill helped steal a large amount of coins, silver bars and two pocket watches worth around $3,000 in the W7000 block of Wisconsin 11, Town of Cadiz, that were later sold to an antique mall. 

•  Elias Ojeda Castro, 37, Monroe, pleaded guilty July 12 to a Class E Felony of possessing cocaine with intent to deliver and was sentenced to a year in jail, concurrent with any other sentence and may be served under the Huber law. He also pleaded guilty the same day to two Class F Felonies of manufacture/deliver cocaine and was sentenced to one year in jail. Felony charges of maintaining a drug trafficking place, possession of cocaine with intent to deliver and a misdemeanor charge of operating without a valid license were dismissed. Court records indicate Castro sold an “8-ball” of cocaine for $300 to an undercover officer at a bar in the 1900 block of 10th Avenue in Monroe on July 31 and again on Aug. 8, 2017. A search of Castro’s apartment in the 1700 block of 6 1/2 Avenue in March turned up cocaine divided into gem baggies. He claimed the cocaine was for his own consumption and he bought it in Beloit.

•  Micah Malik Stacy, 20, Freeport, signed a $150 signature bond July 17 after an initial appearance in Green County Circuit Court July 16 on a Class I felony fleeing an officer charge and two misdemeanor charges; one for possession of THC and one for possession of drug paraphernalia. He has a preliminary hearing Aug. 16. Court records indicate that just after 3 a.m. July 13 in the Town of Spring Grove when a police officer attempted to pull Stacy over for speeding that resulted in a high-speed chase, with Stacy passing vehicles in no passing zones and reaching speeds of nearly 120 mph before braking to a halt on County G near Shanghai Road. The officer saw Stacy throw keys out the window and into a nearby field before sticking his hands out the window in surrender. The officer indicated he could smell intoxicants and the odor of marijuana coming from the car. 

•  Jeffery Wayne Walters, 60, Orfordville, had a status conference July 19 on eight Class I felony counts of failure to pay child support for more than 120 days. He has a preliminary hearing Aug. 8. 

  Aaron L. Frayer, 51, Janesville, pleaded not guilty July 19 on six Class I felony counts of failure to pay child support for more than 120 days. He has a pre-trial conference Sept. 18.

•  George Michael Bucher, 48, Brodhead, posted a signature bond of $2,000 July 23 after completing an initial appearance in Green County Circuit Court on a Class H felony count of false imprisonment and three misdemeanor charges. He has a preliminary hearing Sept. 10. The case stems from an incident in Brodhead between Bucher and a woman in which the victim told police Bucher injured her wrist and bicep during a fight over a dog at his residence when she attempted to leave with the pet. When the woman went to leave in her vehicle, Bucher forced the car into park.

•  Christopher Gary Johnson, 37, Monroe, stood mute July 26 on a Class I felony count of substantial battery and bodily harm and 12 Class H felony counts of bail jumping, as well as misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and resisting an officer. He has a status conference Oct. 26. Court records indicate that Johnson slapped a woman across the face several times while traveling to Monroe from Cedarville, where the woman had driven him after he asked to be taken to Cedar Inn to drink and gamble. The woman was admitted to Monroe Clinic ER with facial injuries. 


Lafayette County

Misdemeanors

•  Zachary Thomas Blumenberg, 32, Argyle, pleaded no contest June 28 to misdemeanor charges of battery and disorderly conduct and was sentenced to 18 months on probation. Charges on intimidating a victim/use or attempt force, a Class G Felony and false imprisonment, a Class H Felony, were dismissed. He owes the court $419. The charges stem from an incident May 15 after Blumenberg reportedly struck a woman repeatedly in a Town of Jordan residence.
