MONROE — A 40-year-old Freeport woman was cited for operating under the influence, after her car went off the road and struck the former MTX building on Wis. 69.

According to reports, the crash happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug 25. That is when the driver was traveling southbound and lost control of her car, struck a median, hit a sign and then struck the building at 704 30th Street that used to house the audio speaker company.

No one was seriously injured in the crash, including the driver, Crystal L. Mordick of Freeport. She was cited for a first-offense OWI, according to Monroe Police Chief Fred Kelley.

“They also cited her for failure to maintain control of a vehicle,” said Kelley.

No damage estimate was made available for the building but Kelley said it does not appear to have been severe.
