MONROE — Two Brodhead residents were arrested and jailed on numerous drug charges, including manufacturing meth and maintaining a drug-trafficking place, after Green County deputies executed a search warrant on a rural Brodhead property Friday.
The arrests of Jordan E. Douglas, 23, and Kristie J. Sweeney, 29, came after a lengthy investigation by the Green County District Attorney and the Stateline Area Narcotics Team, according to Sheriff Mark Rohloff. SLANT is a collaboration of area law enforcement agencies.
Felony charges filed Monday against Douglas include manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing meth precursors, possessing meth waste, maintaining a drug-trafficking place and multiple counts of felony bail jumping, as well as a misdemeanor charge of possessing drug paraphernalia.
Similar charges are filed against Sweeney. Charges against both indicate she and Douglas conspired together to commit the crimes.
Deputies arrived at the residence in the 300 block of Town Center Road in the Town of Spring Grove at 5:45 p.m. Friday. They seized items related to making meth from an outbuilding on the property, then kept the area secure awaiting a contractor with the Drug Enforcement Agency for hazardous material cleanup.
Douglas lives at the home on the property. Sweeney lives elsewhere in Brodhead. Douglas has been busted with meth at the same residence before, according to Rohloff.
At the time of Friday's search, court records show Douglas was out on a $20,000 signature bond on similar charges from a search of his home in November. That case, for which he faces up to 33 years in prison, is still pending.
The Brodhead Fire Department, Brodhead EMS, Green County EMS, Janesville Police Department and Rock County Sheriff's Office assisted in the investigation.
