MONROE — Bond was set at $250,000 for a Monroe man accused of shooting into his neighbor’s apartment last week.

The shooting occurred in a two-unit building in the 1500 block of 16th Street just before 8:35 p.m. Jan. 10, police said.

No one was reportedly injured in the incident.

John M. Fredieu, 50, was taken into custody by Monroe police officers without incident at the scene. Just prior to the gunshot, the suspect and the victim — living upstairs from him — had been involved in a reported dispute of some kind.

Fredieu was initially charged with first-degree attempted homicide and seven other counts. He is scheduled to appear in court on the charges again at 4 p.m. Friday before Circuit Judge Thomas J. Vale.
