MONROE — A Monroe man faces sentencing in Green County Circuit Court for his fifth charge of Operating While Under the Influence.
According to court records, Dennis E. Beutel, was arrested on the charge in January of 2022. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Wednesday, Sept. 5, before Circuit Judge Faun Phillipson.
According to court records, Beutel has numerous other convictions in Green County, including felony bail jumping, resisting a police officer, disorderly conduct and felony taking or driving a vehicle without consent. He also has been charged with criminal damage to property and battery in Green County.
After an accident in 2018, Beutel reportedly drove away and led the officers into Monroe on a short pursuit of about one mile. At that time, Beutel reportedly failed to stop as he drove from the off-ramp into the intersection and collided with a vehicle that was stopped and waiting to turn left onto Wis. 69.
He had been released less than 24 hours earlier on a $500 bond on another charge related to drinking.
If convicted, he faces a maximum potential penalty of six months to up to 10 years in prison.
