MONROE — Two Albany men was charged with felony marijuana possession and distribution following an investigation using the social media app Snap Chat.
According to a criminal complaint, a search warrant was issued on Jan. 4 for the defendants, Phillip Fields Jr., 29 and Bryant S. Kauk, 30. The men had posted numerous pictures of marijuana on the social media application, under different accounts, including some identifying an Audi one of them drove.
The car and a Glock semi-automatic handgun were seized as part of the warrant search/raid. Investigators also found more than 1,500 grams of marijuana in several forms and locations throughout the home, on County Hwy. E near Albany.
They both have been charged with possession with intent to deliver and maintaining a drug-trafficking place.
The men appeared in court on Jan. 30 and not guilty pleas were entered on their behalf. Pre-trial hearings for both men are scheduled for March 7. The men are free on $1,000 signature bonds and not guilty pleas have been entered on their behalf.
