Convicted sex offender to be released in Monroe

MONROE - A Monroe man convicted of sexually assaulting a child in 2011 will be released from a five-year prison sentence on Friday.

Robert William Allen, 35, was convicted in 2011 of a Class C felony count of second-degree sexual assault of a child in Green County.

According to court records, Allen was charged after an incident in late August 2010 when he groped an early teenage girl through her clothing at a residence in Monroe. Allen was 28 at the time.

Police records also indicated that Allen was convicted of two counts of sexual abuse of teenage victims in Stephenson County in Illinois in 2008.

A press release from the Monroe Police Department said Allen will be released from the Department of Corrections on Friday and will move to 1317 17th St. in Monroe.

Allen is still under the supervision of the Department of Corrections for the next 11 years, with conditions that he have no contact with people under the age of 18 unless authorized by his probation agent.
