MONROE - A Brodhead man was arrested Wednesday for possessing firearms as a convicted felon.

Joshua Jasper Parrish, 36, faces three Class G felony counts of possessing a firearm as a felon, as well as a Class I felony count of possessing marijuana and a misdemeanor count of possessing drug paraphernalia.

Parrish was found guilty of fleeing an officer in 2005 in Rock County, itself a Class I felony. As a felon, Parrish is no longer permitted to own a firearm.

However, police executed a search warrant at Parrish's residence on Jan. 31 after they received a report that Parrish had been hunting with his own guns in November. At the residence, police found a .22-caliber rifle, a .32-caliber rifle, a .30-30 rifle and a 12-gauge shotgun.

Police also found two Mason jars full of marijuana and various pipes and rolling papers for marijuana use.

Parrish signed a $10,000 signature bond Thursday with conditions that he not consume any controlled substances or enter any gun store. He was also ordered to turn in his passport.

Parrish's preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 1. His maximum possible sentence is 16.5 years in prison.
