Colony Brands to add new addition to Design Center

MONROE - Colony Brands has announced a planned 36,000-square-foot addition to its Design Center building on the city's west side.

"Growth brings positive changes to most all organizations and Colony Brands is no exception," company President and CEO John Baumann said in a news release Wednesday. "Today I'm excited to share that our creative marketing services, photo and print production teams will be moving to our westside Monroe Design Center.

"In order to make room for these departments, we will be erecting a new 36,000-square foot addition along the west side of the current Design Center building. This addition will house a 20,000-square foot, state-of-the-art photo studio, with additional space for our creative marketing services and print teams."

Colony Brands bought the Design Center building, the former Walmart store on 8th Street, in February 2013 and began remodeling the structure shortly after. A year ago, the company began adding a 30,000-square-foot addition to bring the building's total size to 128,000 square feet.

The physical move of these departmental teams represents a great opportunity in that it will allow Colony Brands to take advantage of the synergies offered by having these groups work more closely together, Baumann said. Currently, these departments are housed in separate buildings in Monroe.

"Preliminary meetings with our architect and construction team are taking place now," Baumann added. The company plans to break ground in July with a target date of March 2016 for completing the addition.

An updated plan and schedule for employee moves will beannounced soon.
