Closings for the holiday start Friday

MONROE - With the Fourth of July on Saturday, some local government offices will close for either the entire day, or at least part of Friday.

The United States Post Office in Monroe will be open until noon. Noon also will be the last collection time for mail deposited in the blue collection boxes, according to the U.S. Postal Service. All collection points that have regularly scheduled collection times prior to noon will be collected as scheduled.

Regular mail delivery for Friday will be unaffected by the change.

The Post Office will be closed July 4 and there will be no mail delivery.

The Green County Courthouse and Monroe City Hall will be closed Friday. All county and city offices will be closed.

There is one exception. The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, and the swimming pool will also be open.

On Saturday, the pool will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. for public swimming and from 5 to 6 p.m. for adult swimming.

The Monroe Clinic will also be closed Friday. There are no appointments scheduled for the day. The emergency room will be open. Fast Care in ShopKo will also be open.

The Monroe township recycling center will be closed Saturday.

In addition, the Behring Senior Center in Monroe will be closed Friday.

The Monroe Times will have normal business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but the newsroom will be closed for the day. The Times will not publish a Saturday edition, and will resume its normal publication schedule Monday.
