MONROE - On Thursday, April 24, the Monroe Salary & Personnel Committee:
• Hired a 2008 seasonal employee to start June 17 for the Water Department.
• Authorized the filling of the Water Department account clerk position from posting within the union, at $14.43 per hour.
• Recommended to City Council to approve job descriptions for account clerk/deputy comptroller and account clerk/deputy treasurer. City Comptroller/Treasurer Cathy Maurer updated the jobs from their previous 1991 descriptions. The jobs are essentially interchangeable, City Administrator Mark Vahlsing said. Maurer said the employees filling the positions will be able to help out in either position, as needed.
• Authorized posting for the account clerk/deputy treasurer position and then advertise, if necessary.
• Went into closed session to continue contract negotiations/bargaining with WPPA (Monroe Professional Police Union) sworn officers.
