MONROE - On Monday, May 19, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works:
Voted to retain the 4:30 p.m. time on Mondays for its meetings.
Approved bills for payment.
Authorized purchase of a folder/inserter for new statement-style bills.
Recommended to council to approve the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) 2007 Compliance Maintenance Annual Report.
Authorized the WWTP director to secure quotes for lawn mower replacement.
On Monday, May 19, the City of Monroe Public Safety Committee:
Recommended to council to approve the Swiss Colony Monroe Badger Days from 4 to 11 p.m. June 16; and the Monroe Chamber of Commerce Balloon Rally, Taste of Monroe, Car Show and Arts and Crafts Show for 5 p.m. June 11 to 2 p.m. June 15, contingent upon proper insurance.
Recommended to Salary and Personnel Committee to hire Jacob A. Towns as a replacement entry-level police officer. The position is budgeted.
Took no action on changing the committee meeting time, in view of the fact the Board of Public Works retained its schedule. Council members last week considered switching the meetings to accommodate discussions on upcoming 16th Avenue reconstruction assessments and a new transportation utility as a way to fund future street and sidewalk construction and repairs.
