City of Monroe Judiciary and Ordinance Review committee: Oct. 19, 2009

MONROE - At a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Judiciary and Ordinance Review committee:

• Reviewed a draft of an ordinance creating and revising definitions in Section 5-2-1, repealing and recreating Section 5-4-2(F), creating Sections 5-9-5 and 5-10-4, and repealing and recreating Section 5-10.5-9 of the Monroe City Code: Signs in Industrial Districts. The ordinance changes involve M-1 zones. City Building Inspector Rex Henke will make recommended changes and bring the draft back to committee Nov. 17.

• Reviewed and recommended to Council for public hearing and adoption Special Ordinance No. 143, extending the time to commence construction of Phase 1 of Menards Large Scale Retail Development. A public hearing is expected to be set for Nov. 17, with a two-week public notification preceding.

• Reviewed and recommended to Council for public hearing and adoption of an ordinance annexing territory (for John Bauman to annex part of Monroe Country Club land). Council is expected to set a Nov. 17 public hearing date.
