MONROE - In a meeting Wednesday, the City of Monroe Finance and Taxation Committee:

• Recommended to council to hire Reffue, Pas, Jacobson & Koster LLP for 2009 audit at a rate of $23,250.

• Recommended to council to approve a Post-Issuance Debt Compliance Policy to guard against post-issuance violations.

• Discussed proposals and possible funding for painting Lincoln Park Water Tower. Quotes gathered from Central Tank Coatings and Lane Tank Company were $15,000 for a six-year paint life expectancy and $21,500 from a 12-year paint life expectancy, respectively. The Green County Historical Society has offered to pay $8,296 toward the costs. The committee sent the issue to the council without a recommendation to approve, but did specify hiring Lane Tank Company with the longer paint life expectancy.

• Postponed approval of proposed increases for building permit and inspection fees for two weeks for more review.
