City of Monroe Common Council: Oct. 20, 2009

MONROE - At a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:

• Authorized Mayor Ron Marsh to represent City of Monroe at meeting regarding railroad and possible closure of part of the ATV trail. The Pecatonica Rail Transit Commission meets at 1 p.m. Oct. 23 at the courthouse.

• Set a public hearing date for Nov. 17 for Special Ordinance No. 143, extending time to commence construction of phase 1 of Menards large scale retail development.

• Set a public hearing date for Nov. 17 for ordinance annexing territory.

• Passed unanimously a resolution authorizing hiring Levi Reincke as replacement dispatcher.

• Passed unanimously a resolution ratifying WPPA Dispatcher's contract for 2009-2010.

• Approved for payment of claims in the amount of $174,650.99.

• Passed a resolution approving special event for Main Street Halloween Parade.

• Passed a resolution authorizing installation of yield signs on 20th Street at 10th Avenue.

• Passed a resolution authorizing installation of stop signs on 6th Street at 22nd Avenue.

• Granted electrical contractor's licenses to Robert Agnew and Lawrence Weisensel, and electrical appliance dealer license to Do It Right HVAC, LLC (Tedd Forman).

• Passed (7-0-1) a resolution approving four land acquisitions for 8th /9th Street Project. Alderman Jan Lefevre abstained.

• Passed unanimously a resolution approving change order for contract with E & N Hughes for streetscape project. Net increase of order is $18,529.58.

• Passed unanimously a resolution approving blight determination by the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Monroe, Wisconsin, in respect to the Monroe Clinic campus.

• Heard updates by Fehr-Graham & Associates regarding streetscape project.

Aldermen Charles Schuringa and Neal Hunter were absent.
