City of Monroe Common Council: June 1, 2010

MONROE - In a meeting Tuesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:

• Heard an update on Mayor Bill Ross' activities.

• Heard from Chad Lee on his candidacy for 2nd District U.S. Congress.

• Reviewed and discussed recommendations of the Revolving Loan Fund Committee regarding approval of possible agreement with Woodford State Bank regarding Allman Properties, LLC and Barrett's Brick Cafe, LLC loans and granting of "Class B" liquor and fermented malt beverage license to Woodford State Bank that is being voluntarily surrendered by Barrett's Brick, Cafe, LLC. No action was taken.

• Approved a resolution directing payment of interest on advances from general fund to pay Tax Incremental Finance District No. 4 project costs.

• Approved unanimously claims in the amount of $1,387,690.87.

• Approved special events for Main Street Concerts on the Square, June 10, contingent upon merchants who are furnishing restrooms signing a "hold harmless" agreement; Main Street Cars on the Square Show, June 11 and August 20; and Monroe Badger Days, June 21.

• Granted on a 7-3 vote temporary "Class B" Fermented Malt Beverage and Wine Licenses and temporary Class "B" Fermented Malt Beverage Licenses to Green County Humane Society in conjunction with outdoor beer garden for 2010 Concerts on the Square. Paul Hannes, Jan Lefevre and Charles Koch voted against.

• Voted down, on a 9-1 vote, granting a "Class B" Liquor and Fermented Malt Beverage License to Woodford State Bank. Dan Henke voted in favor.

• Approved six-year Statement of Project Intentions for Monroe Municipal Airport.
