MONROE - At a meeting of the City of Monroe Common Council:
Approved appointment of John Wyttenbach as 2nd alternate to Zoning Board of Appeals for term to end April 30, 2011.
Held a public hearing and passed (9-0) an ordinance repealing Section 10-2-1(A) and creating Section 10-2-8 of the Monroe City Code: School Bus Lights
Held a public hearing and passed (9-0) an ordinance creating Chapter 17 of Title 1 of the Monroe City Code: Official City Logo. The logo is restricted to city use or by authorization.
Passed (9-0) reimbursement resolution for 8th /9th Street Projects, giving the city authorization to pay for project costs prior to the bond for the project being issued after Feb. 1. 2010, and with the costs being reimbursed from the bond proceeds. Public Works Director Kelly Finkenbinder said the costs would include purchases for right-of-ways and easements. Funds set aside for the project will be used.
Passed (9-0) a resolution authorizing hiring Willis HRH, at a cost of $2,500, to perform City of Monroe 2009 GASB No. 45 valuation of the current retiree medical benefit programs.
Approved (9-0) claims in the amount of $736,804.15
Passed (9-0) a resolution approving special events: Monroe Main Street Christmas in July on the Square, July 24-26; and Potter's House church neighborhood religious event Aug. 29 in Twining Park.
Granted electrical journeyman license to David Oyen (D&D Total Construction, LLC) and Brandon Busch (Clark Electric); electrical contractor license to Dean Noethe (D&D Total Construction LLC) and Clayton C. Zimmerman; and operator's license to Lisa Allman, Cindi Egger, Lisa Ferguson, Samuel Krebs, Sarah Miller and Katie Wenger.
Heard an update by Tom Purdy, Community Development Specialist of Fehr-Graham, on downtown streetscape project. The Square's northeast curbing is in, and the sidewalk is set to be laid today, depending up rain delays. The stairs and ADA ramps on the north side are also being readied.
