MONROE - In a meeting Wednesday, the City of Monroe Common Council:
Approved unanimously the appointment of Sharon Riese to Visitor and Promotion Board to fulfill term of Jim Glessner to end in April 2010. Glessner resigned his position.
Passed unanimously a resolution authorizing hiring Johnson & Block to perform the Water Department audit for the sum of $5,500.
Passed unanimously a resolution authorizing an equipment lease with Chase Equipment Finance, Inc. for four police vehicles, with a principal amount to be financed of $67,612.
Passed (9-1) an initial resolution authorizing $950,000 General Obligation Bonds for the construction of an engine house (west-side fire station.) Thurston Hanson voted against.
Passed unanimously a resolution directing publication of notice to electors of the city's intent to authorize the general obligation bonds for construction of the west-side fire station.
Passed (9-1) a resolution providing for the sale of not to exceed $950,000 general obligation engine house bonds. Hanson voted against.
Passed unanimously a revised resolution clarifying paid, on-call firefighter benefits and workers compensation insurance.
Passed unanimously to approve claims in the amount of $4,103,999.24.
Passed on a 9-0-1 vote a resolution denying a claim from Vasudev Patel. Paul Hannes abstained.
Granted electrical journeyman licenses to Josh Bushor and John Lloyd (both of Faith Technologies Inc.), and an electrical contractors license to Michael J. Masanz (Current Electric).
Passed on a 6-3-1 vote a resolution granting a Class A Fermented Malt Beverage License to Bowen Oil Company. Charles Koch, Neal Hunter and Paul Hannes voted against, Charles Schuringa abstained.
