MONROE - At a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works voted to spend up to $32,000 to get the inner ring of the downtown Square streetscape finished yet this year. Savings in other areas of the project budget will offset the costs and not put the project over budget. The money will be used to purchase materials needed to pour concrete during cold weather including, warm water, chemicals and coverings. The added effort does not guarantee the inner rings will be finished, but gives construction crews a broader window of opportunity.
