MONROE - In a meeting Monday, the City of Monroe Board of Public Works:

• Approved for payment bills from Fehr-Graham & Associates in the amounts of $84,122 and $52,862 for downtown streetscape construction observation; $1,845.25, $1,169 and $1,578.25 for sewer and water grant applications for 9th Street at the intersection of 16th Avenue; $8,728 and $18,501.40 for DNR permits for 9th Street at the intersection of 16th Avenue.

• Authorized purchase of water leak locator, a budgeted item, for $3,795 from J & R supply.

• Sent to Finance and Taxation Committee for cost consideration a proposal for painting of Lincoln Park Water Tower from Central Tanking Coatings Inc.

• Reviewed and approved 2010 yard waste drop-off schedule, including adding two Wednesdays per month.

• Authorize purchase of lowest quoted prices on base course materials and asphalt from Madrell Excavating, Bjoin, Danoll Boone and Rock Road.

• Authorize purchase of Smithco ball field tractor for $15,801 with trade-in from Burris.

• Heard from Nancy Maliszewski regarding concerns and design of parking and downtown streetscape. Recommended narrowing the width of mid-street crossings on the Square to five feet, and sent the issues to Public Safety Committee.

Members Mark Coplien and Neal Hunter were absent.
