• Approved bills in the amounts of $1,985 from Irv's Masonry for sealing bricks on city hall; $6,495 from E&N Hughes for installing sign posts and mounting signs, charged to TIF 6; $54,075 from Water Wells Solutions for emergency repair on well No. 6 pump; $868 from Green Valley Disposal for June recycling; $1,166 from MSA Professional Services for 21st Street retention pond design; $5,759 from MSA Professional Services for storm water quality master plan; and $5,370 from SEH for an 8th and 9th streets revision.

• Authorized $14,546 to purchase and install 15 signs from Tapco, including street signs and signs pointing people to downtown locations and for 8th and 9th streets. Monroe Main Street Design Committee had submitted one quote for about 10 signs from Tapco July 19, and the board requested quotes from two additional companies and asked that signs for 8th and 9th Street be included in the quotes.

• Authorized $42,000 for materials for the reconstruction of Twining Park's south parking lot. The city plans to use city street department employees for the labor. Parks Supervisor Paul Klinzing said the project has no "crunch time" to be finished and employees will work on the project as time allows.

• Learned from Wastewater Superintendent George Thompson that he had requested proposals from four engineering companies for work on two lift stations at East Terrace and the Lakeside Heights neighborhoods. Alderman Dan Henke, an alternate member on the committee, filled the position left vacant following the resignation of Alderman Mike Rivers last week. He will continue in that capacity until an alderman is appointed by the council to the Ward 9 seat.
